Is Jennifer Aniston "devastated" after being snubbed from Courteney Cox's supposed wedding to Johnny McDaid? That's the story in one of this week's tabloids. Gossip Cop looked into the situation and we've learned it's entirely untrue.
According to Woman's Day, Aniston recently discovered she hasn't been invited to Cox's "upcoming wedding" to her boyfriend, who she supposedly plans to wed this Christmas. An alleged insider tells the magazine that Cox recently sent save-the-dates to her loved ones, but her Friends co-star and longtime pal wasn't among the recipients.
"Jen was devastated when she found out," a supposed source tells the magazine. "She broke down in tears when she visited a mutual friend and saw the invite sitting on a shelf. It felt like a dagger to her heart." It's worth noting, the outlet doesn't bother to identify this "mutual friend" who got the invitation. The alleged insider adds, "She considered Courtney to be a sister. She never imagined she wouldn't be there to watch her walk down the aisle."
As for the reason behind the supposed snub, the tabloid claims the Friends co-stars got into a fight after Cox met up with Justin Theroux in New York City last month to celebrate his birthday. Although it's true that Cox helped Aniston's ex celebrate his birthday, it didn't cause any issues between the two women. Gossip Cop already called out the magazine for wrongly reporting Aniston felt "betrayed" by Cox for meeting up with Theroux. In reality, Aniston is still on good terms with her ex, and isn't the least bit bothered by Cox staying friendly with him as well.
Still, the suspicious tipster goes on to say that Aniston is "hoping they can reconcile and put their issues behind them." The seemingly phony source adds, "She's hoping that once the dust settles, Courteney will realize how important their 25-year friendship is - before she destroys it for good."
Nothing about the tabloid's narrative is remotely true. Gossip Cop checked in with a source close to the situation, who assures us that Aniston hasn't been snubbed from Cox's imaginary wedding, nor are the two actresses at odds. Cox and McDaid aren't engaged, let alone headed down the aisle in Christmas. Meanwhile, Aniston and Cox remain close friends, and Theroux hasn't come between them in any way.
In fact, when Cox celebrated the 25th anniversary of Friends on Instagram last week, the actress teased Aniston for not being on the social media platform. She tagged her other co-stars in the post, but added "#seriouslyjen?" in response to her pal not having an Instagram handle. If the two women weren't on speaking terms, it's unlikely Cox would be giving her a funny shoutout on social media.
It should also be mentioned, Gossip Cop busted the National Enquirer last year for coming up with a very similar premise. The publication alleged that Cox hadn't invited Aniston to her and McDaid's "wedding" in Ireland. The actress and her boyfriend didn't get married last year, and Aniston hasn't been left off the invite list for this year's nonexistent ceremony.
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
