Did Jennifer Aniston really ask Courteney Cox to keep tabs on Justin Theroux while she visited New York City? One of this week’s new tabloids claims the actress enlisted her friend to keep an eye on her husband, but Gossip Cop looked into the ridiculous story and we can exclusively set the record straight.

“Jen’s BFF Babysitting Justin,” reads a headlne in the latest issue of Star. The accompanying article alleges Aniston and Theroux are “taking some much-needed time apart to mend their fractured marriage,” but the actress is still secretly keeping track of her husband. A so-called “source” tells the magazine, “Jen asked Courteney to reach out to Justin while she’s in New York City and make sure that he’s behaving himself. Jen wants to give Justin his space, but she still wants to know what he’s up to.”

The outlet’s questionable insider goes on to say that Cox’s way of tracking down Theroux was to set up meetings under the guise of discussing a TV project. “Justin is obsessed with work, so it’s the perfect cover,” says the dubious source. “He feels like he’s doing his own thing, Jen finally has some peace of mind and Courteney gets to make a few new connections.”

Despite how ludicrous this all sounds, Gossip Cop still investigated the situation, and we’re assured the tabloid’s story is both “absurd” and complete “nonsense.” Aniston simply never asked her former “Friends” co-star to spy on her husband. Additionally, she and Theroux aren’t having any marriage problems or trust issues, so this is all a non-story in the first place.

In fact, this isn’t the first time we’ve had to call out Star for publishing a phony report involving Aniston’s best friend and husband. We previously busted the magazine for wrongly reporting Theroux set up Cox with Will Arnett. This latest article is more lies from the repeatedly discredited outlet.
