Did Jennifer Aniston and Courteney Cox really have a falling out over Justin Theroux? That's the claim in one of the tabloids. Gossip Cop can debunk it.
A headline in the latest issue of Life & Style reads, "Courteney & Jen: Friends No More." The accompanying article says the longtime pals are at odds because Aniston discovered that Cox still secretly talks to her estranged husband. "It stung Jen that Court and Justin were in touch," an alleged insider tells the magazine. "Despite years of her and Courteney being like sisters, Jen felt she couldn't trust her anymore."
The outlet goes on to say that Cox has hung out with Aniston's ex several times since their split, but provides no evidence of when and where they've gotten together, nor are there any photos back it up. Still, a supposed source tells the tabloid that Aniston is furious about the get-togethers and stopped inviting Cox to her girls' nights. "When Courteney tried to reach out, Jen was cold in her responses," adds the questionable tipster.
The tabloid further contends that Aniston and Cox recently got together to hash things out, but "it didn't go well." The seemingly phony source adds, "Jen brought up a lot of issues she felt hurt by... Courteney accused her of being 'bitter' and 'jealous.'" According to the "insider," the two barely speak anymore, despite some of their mutual pals trying to get them to work out their issues. "Jen said the only way she'd think about rebuilding things would be if Court apologized," adds the suspicious source. "Until then, their friendship as they've known it is over."
Unfortunately for the tabloid, this bogus report is very poorly timed. On Thursday night, Cox supported Aniston at the premiere of her new Netflix movie Dumplin'. The two actresses, who posed together for several photos at the event's afterparty, have remained close since meeting on the set of "Friends" back in 1994. The magazine's premise is provably false.
In addition to there being concrete evidence disproving rumors of a rift between the longtime pals, Aniston's rep is also going on the record to dismiss the tabloid's story as nonsense. In fact, this narrative isn't even original. Back in September, Gossip Cop called out Life & Style's sister publication, In Touch, for falsely claiming that Aniston was furious with Cox for hanging out with Theroux. The premise wasn't true then and it's no more accurate now.
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
