Jennifer Aniston is not ending her friendship with Courteney Cox for "joking around" with Justin Theroux on Instagram, despite a false tabloid report. Gossip Cop can exclusively debunk the story. Aniston's spokesperson confirms it's nonsense.
Last week, Cox commented on an Instagram post of Theroux's, saying, "Good BBQ bro!" in response to a photo of the actor grilling meat in Japan. Back in April, the actress liked another post that Aniston's ex had written about his rescue dog. According to Heat, Aniston isn't happy about Cox's continued contact with the actor.
"Jennifer is known to be pretty unforgiving when she feels wronged by a friend," a supposed source tells the outlet. "Which is what makes this so awkward. The idea of Courteney joking around with Justin was the final straw, and Jen made sure that her feelings were known in no uncertain terms."
The alleged insider further contends that despite Aniston and Theroux both saying they ended their marriage on good terms, "everyone knows Jen came out of the marriage feeling royally messed around with, not to mention heartbroken." The anonymous tipster goes on to say that Aniston wants her "Friends" co-star to break ties with her ex, but Cox refuses to do so and it's created a major rift between them.
The magazine hides behind an unidentified "insider" to sell its story, but Gossip Cop checked in with Aniston's rep, who tells us on the record it's a "fabrication." Despite what the outlet's possibly fictitious "source" claims, the actress's own spokesperson confirms she hasn't had a falling out with Cox, nor is she upset about the actress leaving comments on her ex's Instagram page.
It's worth noting, Gossip Cop has debunked similar narratives in the past. Last December, we busted Life & Style for falsely claiming Aniston and Cox were no longer friends because Cox was still "secretly talking" to her ex. Last September, In Touch made up a bogus story about Aniston being "furious" with Cox for keeping in contact with Theroux. This ongoing storyline is total fiction.
As for Heat, the publication has a habit of creating nonexistent drama between Aniston and her ex. Last year, Gossip Cop called out the magazine for alleging Theroux was begging his ex for forgiveness because he'd been "exiled" from Hollywood following their split. Only, the actor hasn't been kicked out of show business.
Shortly before that, Gossip Cop debunked the tabloid's phony story claiming Aniston was furious over Theroux giving a "fake" interview about the nature of their divorce. In reality, the exes have both moved on with their lives and there's no drama or animosity between them. Suffice to say, there's certainly no tension between Aniston and Cox over Instagram comments.
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
