One of the tabloids claims Jennifer Aniston is begging Matthew Perry to ask Brad Pitt for help getting sober. The storyline is completely fabricated. Gossip Cop can correct it.

Last week, Perry revealed on Twitter that he spent the last three months in the hospital. The tweet came after last month’s news that the actor underwent surgery for a gastrointestinal perforation, but Perry is now back home and on the mend. The actor has been open about his past struggles with drug and alcohol addiction, but there’s nothing to indicate that his recent health crisis was related to substance abuse. The National Enquirer, however, is saying that Aniston wants her now-sober ex-husband to intervene.

In an interview with GQ last year, Pitt admitted that his drinking “became a problem” during his marriage to Angelina Jolie, so he decided to quit. The movie star has been sober for nearly two years now. The Enquirer claims that Aniston wants her “Friends” co-star to talk to Pitt about continuing to “kick his self-destructive habits before it’s too late.”

However, the magazine’s report is a work of fiction based on an article that Gossip Cop already debunked. Earlier this month, we busted the Globe for falsely claiming that Aniston was getting the cast of “Friends” to stage an intervention for Perry. That article also included a section about the actress wanting Pitt to help her former co-star. The premise was based on claims from an anonymous and untraceable “source,” but Aniston’s rep told Gossip Cop on the record that it was untrue. That remains the case.

It seems this latest report was published to capitalize on the recent news that Perry finally went home after spending three months in the hospital. Aniston and Pitt have absolutely nothing to do with the situation. The tabloid is just trying to spice up a story about Perry by involving other stars connected to him in some way.

Unfortunately, this isn’t the first time the magazine has tried to exploit the actor’s health issues. Last month, Gossip Cop busted the tabloid for falsely claiming that Perry was “dying” with as few as “six months to live.” Meanwhile, the tabloid’s sister publication, RadarOnline, alleged last year that Aniston “hated” Perry. That claim wasn’t true, but it’s interesting how the actress supposedly went from hating her former co-star to wanting to help him. It’s clear this ongoing narrative surrounding Perry’s health and his relationship with Aniston is bogus.
