Exactly one year ago today, two related outlets reported Jennifer Aniston wanted Brad Pitt to father her children. Gossip Cop debunked the far-fetched claim within hours of it being published. At the time, we noted it was untrue, and now 12 months later, there’s no question the tabloid and its sister website were 100 percent wrong about Aniston having a baby with Pitt.

On March 8, 2018, the National Enquirer and RadarOnline not only insisted Aniston wanted Pitt to be her “baby daddy,” but they both also asserted he was entirely “on board.” The stories were fabrications. A year has passed and neither of those outlets have updated their articles, which are still online, nor have they apologized for having posted their inaccurate tales.

As we’ve mentioned in the past, on occasion Gossip Cop looks back at reports from a year ago to point out which outlets are trustworthy and which, at times, are questionable. Both the magazine and the blog quoted word-for-word the same unnamed, untraceable and unreliable “source,” who alleged Aniston wanted the father of her babies to be “the perfect man, and… that’s Brad.” The same either clueless or possibly manufactured “source” further contended the former “Friends” star was hoping her future kids would “be just like Brad,” not only in looks but also in “charm” and “personality.”

“Jen didn’t have to ask Brad twice,” the outlets’ supposed insider maintained. He was immediately “on board with the plan” to have children with her, claimed the tipster. A full 365 days ago, Aniston’s rep, speaking on behalf of the actress, assured Gossip Cop on the record that the site and tabloid’s tales bore no semblance to reality and, of course, it’s clear to this day the premise was false. While the two have remained friendly, and he even stopped by her milestone 50th birthday last month, Aniston never asked Pitt to be her “baby daddy.”

Unfortunately, after all these years Gossip Cop is no longer surprised by both the falsity of those outlets’ articles or that neither ever acknowledged their errors. What is a bit shocking, however, is that the Enquirer and RadarOnline haven’t developed better Aniston or Pitt sources, and that they continue to peddle bogus reports about the two stars. For instance, just a month after the phony “baby daddy” story, the website seemingly forgot how the Oscar-winner was “on board” with having a baby with his ex-wife because it published a piece that also wrongly claimed Aniston wanted to get back together with Justin Theroux, having failed to “rekindle” with Pitt.

Meanwhile, the supermarket tabloid ran a story this past August about how Aniston and Pitt “reignited” their romance and were having “steamy romps all summer.” Of course, the actress was in Montreal and Italy filming Murder Mystery with Adam Sandler the whole time, while Pitt was in Los Angeles shooting Once Upon A Time In Hollywood. Curiously, there was no mention in that article or the piece about her wanting to rekindle with Theroux about Aniston looking to Pitt to father her kids.

The outlets simply concocted that storyline and then moved on to a series of other (incorrect) reports, hoping no would would catch on or hold them accountable. That’s why, as previously stated above, Gossip Cop looks back at articles from the year before. If you want fan-fiction about Pitt and Aniston, there’s plenty of it out there. But it you want the truth, there’s only one Gossip Cop.
