A tabloid claims Jennifer Aniston broke down in tears when she learned Brad Pitt is “dating” Alia Shawkat. The incident never occurred, however, seeing as the actor isn’t dating the Arrested Development star. Gossip Cop can set the record straight.
Earlier this week, Star published a phony cover story about Pitt moving on from both Aniston and Angelina Jolie by striking up a romance with Shawkat. The article came on the heels of false speculation about the two being a new couple. The rumors only emerged because they’ve hung out together in a big group of friends several times over the past couple of months. Pitt’s spokesperson has assured us on the record there’s nothing romantic going on between him and the younger actress, and several reliable publications have backed this up.
Unfortunately, Star is now pretending to know Aniston’s reaction to her ex-husband’s (imaginary) romance. The magazine claims the actress was enjoying a night out with friends when she received a text saying Pitt had a “new girlfriend.” An alleged insider tells the outlet, “Jen was at a restaurant with friends when she learned that Brad was dating Alia. When Jen opened [the text], her mouth dropped.” The magazine doesn’t bother to mention who sent the text, when this happened or where Aniston was dining.
The seemingly phony source continues, “She excused herself and went to the restroom, where she tried to calm herself down. She told herself it was bound to happen. But she got very emotional and just sobbed.” So, was this so-called “insider” hiding in the restroom? The questionable tipster concludes, “When she got back to her table, pals knew she wasn’t OK. Once again, Brad has broken her heart.”
Of course, Pitt and Aniston never got back together, so even if the actor was dating Shawkat – which he isn’t – his ex-wife wouldn’t be disturbed by the news. Star is simply taking false romance rumors involving Pitt and Shawkat and using them to create an equally fictional scenario involving Aniston’s supposed reaction. This ongoing narrative is baseless.
It’s worth noting, Gossip Cop busted the tabloid last month for falsely claiming Aniston was back on the dating scene after an attempted reconciliation with Pitt fizzled out. The outlet said she knew a reunion with her ex “wasn’t meant to be,” so she started pursuing men who aren’t in the spotlight. That article wasn’t accurate either, but if the tabloid insists she moved on last month, why is she “sobbing” over her ex doing the same thing? It hardly matters considering this whole storyline is ludicrous.
Gossip Cop should also mention that around this time last year, we called out the tabloid for wrongly reporting that Aniston was pregnant with Pitt’s baby. The publication has since ignored that absurd story. This latest one should be ignored as well.
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
