Are Jennifer Aniston and Brad Pitt becoming "business partners" again? That was the premise of a magazine story published one year ago today. Gossip Cop said the claim was untrue back then, and now 12 months later it's clear they didn't reunite to work together.
On March 19, 2018, NW insisted the exes were re-teaming to become "business partners." To make it seem like it had inside information, the tabloid alleged it had a source who shared how Pitt and Aniston were "merging their business interests again," much like they had done in 2001 when they created the production company Plan B. In the article from a year ago, the same tipster asserted they went together to Northern California, "away from the prying eyes of Hollywood," where they could talk business.
As Gossip Cop pointed out 365 days ago, it was highly suspicious that Pitt and Aniston would go to a popular travel destination, such as Northern California's "wine country," and no one got a photo of the two stars together, or that no reputable outlet would have reported that. Of course, the real reason is they never went on a trip last year. Glaringly omitted from the article, as well, was what type on "business" they discussed. Also, at the time of that story, Aniston and Pitt had not seen each other in person in a very long time.
While it's true Pitt briefly stopped by Aniston's star-studded 50th birthday party last month, they are not reuniting in business or otherwise. In fact, just two weeks ago, the very same tabloid published another piece that falsely contended Pitt and Aniston were teaming up to make movies. His spokesman confirmed to Gossip Cop it was not true they would be working together, while a rep for Aniston similarly assured us the premise was "fabricated."
But that's hardly the only made-up tale the magazine has told in the intervening months since its claim about them having a meeting in Northern California. Just a little more than a week after the report about them getting back together "only as business partners," the same publication ran a cover story that swore up and down Aniston and Pitt had eloped and gotten married in Paris. Obviously that was a lie, as was the outlet's front page article a month later that maintained Pitt got a "secret lover" pregnant.
More recently, after having forgotten it claimed he married Aniston and impregnated a random woman, NW bizarrely reported that Pitt was dating Jennifer Garner. For her part, the tabloid alleged Aniston was dating Leonardo DiCaprio after being introduced by none other than Pitt. A skeptic might say the magazine just makes up stories and doesn't care about how ridiculous and, at times, contradictory they are.
Regardless, as mentioned before, Gossip Cop looks back at articles from the past to see how they've held up, as well as to help readers decide which outlets they can and cannot trust. There's no question the tale about Pitt and Aniston reuniting for a "business venture" was 100 percent incorrect. It's the reason we gave that story a zero on our fact-or-fiction meter back then and are doing it again.
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
