A tabloid article claiming Jennifer Aniston and Justin Theroux are in a “bizarre marriage” is “bogus,” a rep for the actress tells Gossip Cop exclusively. The sensationally twisted story appears in this week’s In Touch, the same magazine that has lied countless times about Aniston being pregnant and getting divorced.

“Inside Jen & Justin’s Bizarre Marriage,” reads the headline in the tabloid’s current edition, where a so-called “friend” is quoted as saying, “When the layers are peeled back and Jen and Justin’s bizarre life together is exposed, it’s far from an idyllic marriage. They’re about as opposite as a couple can be.” Of course, any real friend of Aniston or Theroux wouldn’t be talking about them and their relationship with a gossip magazine.

The outlet turns to its oft-used refrain about the couple “living separate lives” and preferring a “long-distance marriage,” and passes judgment on their decision to accept that their careers mean they are going to be apart for significant amounts of time. Claims the supposed pal, “While they claim to have worked out a rhythm where they can be happily married without being together 24/7, it’s from the truth.” It’s ironic, though, that the publication and its purported source would proclaim to know the “truth.”

This is a tabloid that infamously insisted Aniston was pregnant more than a year ago, leading to her widely-read column for the Huffington Post, in which she slammed the gossip media for such lies. It’s also noteworthy that this article from In Touch references Aniston’s recent Vogue interview, but fails to mention this key quote from the star: “I think the problem is the tabloids and the gossip columns taking the human body and putting it in a category… It’s a weird obsession that people have and I don’t understand exactly why they need to take people who are out there to entertain you, and rip them apart and bully them.”

That’s what the magazine is doing right here. It is putting Aniston and Theroux’s marriage into a category simply because it doesn’t meet some traditional standard. The actors are being ripped apart and bullied by an outlet that has spent years peddling lies about them. And this latest story is “completely bogus,” Aniston’s rep tells Gossip Cop. What’s “bizarre” to the outlet isn’t bizarre to them and that’s all that matters.
