Jennifer Aniston and Angelina Jolie did not end their supposed "feud" at a Golden Globes party, despite a report. While Brad Pitt's exes both attended the awards show and the Netflix bash, they did not have any interaction. Gossip Cop can bust this story.
The piece in question can be found in NW, where an article ironically begins with, "Breaking. Freaking News." It's specifically alleged, "The two actresses have called a truce in Hollywood's biggest feud." That would arguably be big news if such a thing actually happened, particularly at a star-studded event. But it didn't. In fact, it becomes clear these claims are made-up when the Australian tabloid actually writes, "It's just too bad the showdown the world's been waiting for happened away from prying eyes." How convenient.
So, what does the gossip magazine imagine happened? Well, it's claimed Jolie "seemed nervous" at the Globes ceremony as she hoped to get "closure" with Aniston. The outlet alleges that although she and Aniston "kept their distance during the show and appeared to blank one another," Jolie "discreetly hunted Jen down at the Netflix after-party to extend the olive branch, in the ladies loo no less."
Unsurprisingly, the publication seems to have no idea what was purportedly said, even though a so-called "source" is quoted as claiming, "Jen was open to hear what Ange had to say." The tabloid asserts that Aniston has "long been open to some sort of ceasefire," and maintains they were "careful to keep their talk out of the spotlight." Sure. Adds the magazine, "While Ange ended up being the one to instigate things, we're told Jen's equally as happy they're finally moving forward."
The alleged "source" concludes, "Of course they're never going to be best friends... But at least things won't be so awkward now." Well, it's quite awkward that NW made all of this up. The outlet even went as far as trying to outright deceive readers by photoshopping a picture of Jolie and Aniston separately to make it seem like they posed together. The fake image appears on the issue's cover (see below), with the teaser, "The pic we've all been waiting for." In the real photo, Aniston was on stage with Carol Burnett.
And there's a flat-out factual error inside the edition, when the publication asserts, "They hadn't been in the same room since the 2009 Oscars." In actuality, Jolie and Aniston were both at the 2015 Critics' Choice Awards. And while Aniston and Jolie each put in appearances at the Netflix party after this year's Golden Globes, this alleged bathroom powwow never happened. Tellingly, no other publication has made such a claim aside from this one on the other side of the world.
That's actually not surprising given that NW made-up a whole cover story last month about Aniston and Pitt being "reunited for the holidays." That narrative was completely manufactured out of thin air, as is this one now about the actress and Jolie.
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
