A tabloid claims Jennifer Aniston is furious over Angelina Jolie supposedly "dragging her feet" on finalizing her divorce from Brad Pitt. Nothing about the story is remotely true. Gossip Cop can debunk it.
According to New Idea, however, the "Friends" star is rekindling a romance with her ex-husband, but she's frustrated that Jolie won't allow them to "move on" together. An alleged insider tells the magazine, "[Aniston] knows that Brad is moving heaven and earth to get Angelina to finalize the divorce, but she just won't budge - it's infuriating. And for Jennifer, it's just Ange ruining her relationship with Brad all over again."
The supposed source further contends that Aniston feels Jolie is standing in the way of her happiness, adding, "First Angelina stole her husband and ruined her marriage - and now she's doing it again by stopping them from moving forward and putting Ange behind them." The suspicious tipster adds, "Jen thinks that Ange is getting some sort of pleasure from dragging out the divorce - and the fact that she's just trying to cause Jen pain is really upsetting."
The first problem with the tabloid's bogus story is that Pitt and Aniston aren't back together. Separate reps for both stars have assured us countless times that the exes aren't reconciling. They've been on friendly terms as of late, which is the reason Pitt stopped by his ex-wife's 50th birthday party in February. But all rumors of the two rekindling a romance are false.
In addition to the outlet's story being predicated on a false premise, it also lacks logic. Back in April, Pitt and Jolie became officially single again after a judge ruled that both can go back to their single status before finalizing their divorce settlement. This means that both stars are free to date other people and their love lives have no impact on their divorce proceedings. Even if Jolie were "dragging her feet" on the divorce, this wouldn't affect Pitt's ability to "move on" with Aniston. Regardless, the entire narrative is fictional.
It should be noted, New Idea doesn't have a great memory when it comes to the stories it fabricates. In April, Gossip Cop busted the magazine for wrongly reporting that Pitt and Aniston would be getting married again after he was declared legally single. The same publication alleged back in February that Pitt and Aniston had gotten married at her 50th birthday party, which supposedly doubled as a secret wedding ceremony.
There's zero consistency to the tabloid's ongoing saga about the ex-spouses. That's because there's no credibility to any of these stories. Aniston simply has no involvement in Pitt and Jolie's divorce, despite the outlet's repeated attempts at creating a soap opera.
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
