Jennifer Aniston and David Schwimmer are not "more than friends," despite a bogus tabloid report. A magazine is trying to create a fake romance between the former co-stars for no apparent reason. Gossip Cop has learned they're not dating.

Earlier this month, Aniston revealed on Instagram that the entire cast of Friends had recently reunited. The actress shared a picture of all six co-stars together, and according to New Idea, the actress's connection with Schwimmer was palpable at the get-together. "Jen and David have always had feelings for one another," an unknown source tells the magazine. "After reuniting with the gang, it was clear they still had a spark and their chemistry was stronger than ever."

The supposed insider goes on to say that Courteney Cox and Lisa Kudrow "acted as matchmakers" for their co-stars, as Schwimmer had been telling them for years he "felt deep down that Jen was 'The One.'" The anonymous tipster says Cox and Kudrow kept "pushing David to tell Jen his true feelings about her," and he finally decided to do so.

"It's always been a case of the wrong time - with both of them always involved with someone else or coming out of a relationship," adds the seemingly phony source. "They've finally admitted their true feelings for each other after 25 years of friendship. They just wished they'd gotten together years ago."

The tabloid's article has more in common with fan fiction than it does with journalism. Gossip Cop reached out to Aniston's spokesperson, who tells us on the record that she's not dating Schwimmer. A mutual pal of ours and the actor also confirms there's no romance between the Friends co-stars. The outlet seemingly invented its story because both are single and recently crossed paths.

Earlier this month, Aniston said in an interview that she's been too "busy" to date. The actress noted that she's currently promoting her Apple series The Morning Show and also "prepping for next season." Meanwhile, New Idea has already proven to be an unreliable source for news about the actress's personal life.

The tabloid has spent more than a year making up phony stories about Aniston rekindling a romance with Brad Pitt. In September 2018, for example, Gossip Cop busted the publication for falsely claiming Aniston and Pitt were having a baby together. This past April, we called out the magazine for wrongly reporting Aniston was marrying Pitt again. The ex-spouses aren't back together in any capacity. It's actually sort of surprising that the outlet is moving on to Schwimmer, but we can't help but predict New Idea will soon get back into the Aniston/Pitt business again.

Our Verdict

Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
