Have the producers of “Live with Kelly and Ryan” really chosen Jenna Dewan Tatum to replace Kelly Ripa if she were to quit the talk show? That’s the claim in one of the new tabloids, but Gossip Cop has the truth.

An article in the latest issue of OK! claims ABC executives were so impressed with Dewan Tatum when she guest-hosted alongside Ryan Seacrest earlier this month that they’ve tapped her to take Ripa’s spot should she leave. A supposed “source” tells the magazine that producers have been nervous about Ripa’s future with the show ever since last year’s drama surrounding Michael Strahan leaving, so they came up with Dewan Tatum as a back-up plan.

It should be noted, the actress only guest-hosted “Live” on a single occasion, and a permanent host is typically tested many times to determine if they’d make a good fit. When Strahan left last year, there was an ongoing search with a wide net cast for possible replacements, and it took around eight months for producers to choose Seacrest. Regardless, Ripa isn’t leaving “Live” anytime soon, but if and when she retires from the show, there will be a long process to find her permanent replacement. Gossip Cop is also exclusively assured by a source close to the situation that ABC hasn’t already deemed Dewan Tatum to be the “back-up plan.”

Unfortunately, OK! has a habit of publishing bogus stories about the morning talk show, so this latest fabrication comes as no surprise. Gossip Cop recently called out the tabloid for wrongly reporting ABC is worried about the ratings for “Live with Kelly and Ryan.” We also busted the outlet’s sister publication, the National Enquirer, when it falsely claimed last month that Seacrest is quitting “Live.” There was no truth to either of those articles, and this latest one is equally phony.
