Jenna Dewan has not been "dragging her feet" on finalizing her divorce from Channing Tatum, despite an untrue tabloid report. Gossip Cop can debunk the phony premise. We're told it's simply not accurate.
According to Star, Dewan refuses to move forward with her divorce from Tatum despite it being more than a year since they separated. A supposed source tells the outlet, "She's being difficult, no doubt about it," adding that her alleged jealousy over Tatum's relationship with Jessie J is "to blame."
The unnamed and unidentifiable insider contends, "The second she got an inkling that Channing was seeing Jessie, she tried to one-up her ex by dating [Broadway star] Steve Kazee." The questionable tipster asserts, "Jenna has to be the one pulling the strings. If she's not in control, she's not happy."
The tabloid's report is based on claims from an anonymous and possibly fictitious "insider," but Gossip Cop reached out to Dewan's spokesperson, who tells us on the record that it "couldn't be further from the truth." The actress and dancer's rep, speaking on her behalf, assures us she's "not being difficult" in her divorce from Tatum, and is "not jealous" of his new romance. Dewan's rep insists, "She has a full and busy and joyful life."
Of course, it's not particularly surprising that OK! has zero insight into the ex-couple's relationship. Gossip Cop busted the tabloid back in October for falsely claiming Dewan and Tatum were getting back together. That article said Dewan and Tatum were calling off their divorce after he supposedly "apologized for all the stupid things he did" while they were together. That story also came from an untraceable tipster, while Dewan's rep rightly confirmed to us she and Tatum weren't reuniting. In the time since we debunked the report, both stars began dating other people.
Back in February, Gossip Cop called out Star's sister outlet, Life & Style, for wrongly maintaining Dewan and her new boyfriend were getting married. That story wasn't true either, but this latest one suggests she's only dating Kazee out of spite because Tatum is with Jessie J. In addition to these tales being untrue, they're also inconsistent.
The reason that Tatum and Dewan have yet to finalize their divorce has nothing to do with the actress "being difficult" or resenting her ex for moving on with another woman. The estranged spouses, who share a six-year-old daughter, are simply hashing out the terms of their divorce and custody arrangement. The magazine's take on the situation is fabricated.
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
