Suspicious tweets appeared on Jay Z‘s Twitter feed on Thursday night, leading some to wonder if the rap mogul’s account was hacked. See screengrabs below.
At 8:22 p.m. Eastern, a tweet was sent on Jay Z’s account saying, “Thank you to all the people that have inspired me . Rakim KANE KRS chuck cube Jaz Em Andre Nas big PAC cole kendrick chance jayE ..wait.” A few minutes later, another tweet said, “Lauryn Nicki lite latifah common ye drake and meek . Run caz LL chainz cam tip (both of them) thought pharaoh , face . De la . Ice T. Wait.”
That was followed by “G Rap .Mel . Kurupt . Lox. X . Q. Ab lupe. Mos. Foxy. Boss . Ross. Quavo Future Travis too many f*ck this. All you!T grizzley song best out.” Next came, “Sh*t did I say redman ? Ghost and Rae . Wu tang I beat Genius in a rap battle I think ha . Busta (him too) Treach . Thug . B a rapper too!”
A fourth message stated, “Sh*t …Wayne , Juve BG Nipsey . Kim . Slaughterhouse (yes mouse too ha) Folarin MC eiht . Short . 40 . Mac dre this sh*t hard .Never mind.” And then a fifth: “Somebody find that reply I just hit please . I’m new on this . Anyway salute to anybody who made a song to feed their family or just vent.”
Jay Z, however, is not “new” to Twitter, having joined the social media site years ago. His last confirmed tweet was at the end of March, in relation to his documentary on Kalief Browder. While it’s not out of the realm of possibility that the superstar wanted to shout-out some influences, the random timing and the grammatical style makes the tweets highly suspect. And while some have connected the tweets to Jay Z’s induction into the Songwriters Hall of Fame earlier Thursday, suggesting he may be drunkenly tweeting out some thank yous, they are rather out of character for him.
The messages also come two days after Scott Disick was hacked on Twitter, along with Hilary Duff and Ashley Tisdale. While the person responsible for those security breaches tweeted out his own Twitter handle, that’s not the case here. The questionable tweets on Jay Z’s page are also different in substance and style from the other hacked postings. In any case, Gossip Cop has reached out for clarification. See screengrabs of the aforementioned tweets and more below.
Gossip Cop cannot come to a verdict either way.
