Jay Z did not call Kanye West a "pesky fly," despite a wholly fabricated report. Gossip Cop can expose this latest instance of fake news.

As Gossip Cop has noted, HollywoodLife has been spending an inordinate amount of time lately making up stories about Jay Z. Among the webloid's latest misguided offerings is the rap mogul's supposed reaction to West's alleged plans to leave Tidal over a financial dispute. "JAY-Z Has Better Things To Pay Attention To Than 'Pesky Fly' Kanye West," declares the headline.

In the mean-spirited article, the site's addresses West directly, telling him, "JAY-Z has more important things to pay attention to than your 'pesky fly' behavior. Like parenting his newborn twins, for example." A so-called "source" is quoted as saying, "JAY-Z has all his attention on being a father, being a husband, and watching the success of his new album flourish. All Kanye is to him right now is like dealing with a pesky fly that flies into your food. It's flying around and you just want to get away from it and enjoy your meal."

That's an illustrative comparison, but did Jay Z really make it to this "source," who then passed it on to HollywoodLies? Gossip Cop is told no. Ironically, while the outlet claims the father of three has "more important things" to do than "pay attention" to West, he also has more important things to do than have those close to him feed information to this dubious online publication. In fact, the only time HollywoodLies is on his radar is when Gossip Cop points out these fabrications to his camp.

And just as the site has been manufacturing tales about Jay Z and his twins as well as about Jay Z and his new album, the outlet is now crafting pieces about him and the alleged rift with West. Unsurprisingly, the webloid has also made up stories on this topic from West's perspective, and has even posted articles giving Kim Kardashian's purported take on the situation. HollywoodLies' only goal is capitalize on and exploit every hot news topic. and this is the latest one. But these reports are merely fake news that shouldn't be taken seriously.

Our Verdict

Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
