A new report claiming the “Church of Satan” has gained popularity after being endorsed by such celebrities as Jay Z, Lady Gaga and Miley Cyrus is completely made-up. None of those stars have ever said they worship the devil, despite a bogus report from a website known for publishing fake news. Gossip Cop can clear up the situation.

According to the blog Neon Nettle, “the biggest names among the pop music elite” have opened up about their devotion to Satan over the last year, supposedly crediting their success to “their love for Lucifer.” The site further contends that their alleged support for the organization has led to an influx of young members who’ve been influenced to embrace dark forces.

However, this absurd narrative is based on claims that Gossip Cop has already corrected. Last month, we called out the site for making up a story about Cyrus telling young fans to “worship Satan.” Shortly before that nonsense, Gossip Cop busted a ridiculous article alleging that Jay Z praised Lucifer as “the way of truth and light.” We also recently debunked with Gaga’s rep a tall tale about her performing a “satanic ritual” in a bathtub full of blood.

Neon Nettle, which is a known fake new website, has now published a follow-up to all three of its fabricated stories, contending that the music superstars’ alleged ties to the devil has inspired young fans across the world to join the Church of Satan. Despite how ridiculous this all sounds, Gossip Cop investigates even the craziest of claims, and we can confirm that Jay Z, Gaga and Cyrus aren’t members of the Satanic cult. Not only did their camps all scoff at the absurd assertions, but also an online search will prove that not one of them has ever pledged their allegiance to the devil.

Unfortunately, many people are tricked into believing these types of fake news stories. In fact, Christian Right activist Mat Staver recently asserted on a radio show that Jay Z belonged to the Church of Satan. His source? The same made-up article that Gossip Cop debunked.
