HollywoodLife is a site that has repeatedly been caught fabricating fake news stories about Selena Gomez, so much so that she even called the outlet "the worst" in an interview with Billboard. Suffice to say, Gossip Cop has busted the webloid dozens of times for its made-up articles about her. Apparently, it's gotten to the point where the outlet can't even keep track of its fibs, particularly in relation to Niall Horan.
Six days ago, HollywoodLies, as it is often nicknamed, published a story with the headline, "Selena Gomez Flattered By Niall Horan's Crush Reveal But Here's Why They'll Never Date." Now, the possibly pathological liars at the site have an article with the headline, "Niall Horan Gushes Over Ex Selena Gomez: 'She's The Perfect Role Model.'" Wait, six days ago Gomez would "never date" Horan, but now she's his "ex"?
In the concocted story from last week, the often discredited site wrote, "If you're obsessed with the idea of Selena Gomez dating Niall Horan, then we're here to burst your bubble." The webloid then claimed the reason they never dated was Gomez considered them just to be in the "friend zone." Then, as the untrustworthy blog is wont to do, it quoted a seemingly fictitious "source" as saying, "Selena really likes Niall but she feels a more brotherly connection towards him as opposed to a romantic one."
That's funny, because in its latest report, not even a week later, HollywoodLies notes Horan spoke about Gomez in a new Billboard article, and refers to her as "his famous ex." The unreliable site also mentions their "time together as a couple!" So, were they a "couple" or in the "friend zone"? Well, they've always been friends, as Gossip Cop has accurately reported, and Horan doesn't actually refer to her as an "ex" in his Billboard interview.
It's also interesting that a few days ago, the repeatedly disproven site would suddenly maintain that Gomez would "never date" Horan, because for years the blog published one falsehood after another about Gomez "dating" Horan, filled with fake details about their romance. Perhaps HollywoodLies forgot about its February 2014 story titled, "Selena Gomez Is Dating Niall Horan To 'Get Back At Justin Bieber.'" In the fully manufactured story, the blog claimed, "Selena Gomez has a new man in her life, One Direction cutie Niall Horan."
The webloid even spent a part of 2015 manufacturing fake news stories about Horan and Gomez's non-existent romance. In one tall tale, the site made up how One Direction bandmate Louis Tomlinson was "happy" for Horan's new relationship with Gomez. In another, the creative writers at the blog concocted a piece about how Gigi Hadid wanted her boyfriend Zayn Malik to "double date" with Gomez and Horan. And in yet another phony article, the site wrote about how Gomez and Horan's "chemistry is explosive."
And just like in chemistry, the volcano of lies built by HollywoodLife blew up in its face, because Gomez and Horan never dated. While the site may think its readers are idiots who can't remember its slew of falsehoods, Gossip Cop has catalogued every single one of them. Just search Gomez and Horan's names on our site to see all the damning evidence.
It's also worth noting HollywoodLies is not only bad at reporting, but also lazy, too. The site simply uses the same art to illustrate its conflicting reports.
It was only days ago that Gossip Cop last took HollywoodLies to task for lying about Gomez and Horan. And it's for all these reasons detailed above that the online publication is widely considered to be a laughingstock. But Gomez and Horan's fans deserve better. And until the webloid starts practicing real journalism or finally labels itself a fan-fiction site, Gossip Cop will keep calling it out.
Gossip Cop has determined this story is accurate to the best of our ability.
