Taylor Swift Joe Alwyn July Fourth

HollywoodLife has once again been caught lying about Taylor Swift. The site falsely claimed the singer was planning to publicly debut her romance with Joe Alwyn at a Fourth of July party. No such thing, however, ever happened.

“Taylor Swift Planning To Share Joe Alwyn Romance With Friends On 4th Of July,” HollywoodLies announced on June 30. In the accompanying story, it was claimed the webloid “EXCLUSIVELY learned that she’s planning to share her Joe Alwyn romance with fans and friends the day of the celebration.” Swift “has big plans in store for her 4th of July party, and they totally include new boyfriend,” the site contended.

A so-called “source” was quoted as saying, “With her favorite holiday around the corner, Taylor will once again get together with her squad and hopes to share fun selfies with her hunk with the world. Things are rock solid between them so she feels comfortable and confident enough to make their budding romance more public.” The outlet further insisted Swift was “devis[ing] a plan to break the internet with one single picture.”

“The pop star has been laying low for the past few months, focusing on music mostly, but that’s all about to change,” asserted the publication, promising she was “preparing to blow social media up.” And that wasn’t all. On July 3, the blog also claimed to have a second “exclusive,” in which it was said that while Alwyn would be at Swift’s Rhode Island home for the supposed bash, he wouldn’t be wearing an “I [heart] T.S.” shirt like Tom Hiddleston did last year.

Another so-called “source” allegedly told the webloid, “Joe feels like what he has with Taylor is sincere and different, so he wants to make sure that is clear to the world. He looks forward to spending the holiday with her and meeting many of her friends — just no silly shirts.” But when it became increasingly apparent on Independence Day that Swift wasn’t having a bash or going public with Alwyn, the site ran a new story, headlined, “Is Taylor Swift Skipping Her 4th Of July Party This Year? Here’s The Evidence.”

Wait a second. If HollywoodLies actually had Swift “sources,” wouldn’t the outlet have known Swift wasn’t having a party? Shouldn’t the online publication have “exclusively learned” there wasn’t going to be a get-together this year? But as Gossip Cop has said over and over, no one in Swift’s camp is actually communicating with the webloid about her life. And this proves it.

What happened here is HollywoodLies saw an inflatable slide erected on Swift’s property and, knowing she’s hosted gatherings in past years, not only assumed she was doing so again, but pretended to have insight on what was going to go down. Gossip Cop didn’t bother calling these stories out as manufactured when they were originally published because we were confident the fabrications would blow up in the site’s face. Sure enough, that’s exactly what happened. For anyone who was still unsure whether HollywoodLies was a trustworthy news outlet, this should erase any lingering doubt. The publication has 100 percent earned its nickname.
