HollywoodLife is flip-flopping on Liam Payne and Cheryl Cole, pretending to have an “exclusive” after spreading fake news about the couple. Allow Gossip Cop to expose what’s going on.

On Tuesday, HollywoodLies ran a story speculating Payne and Cole are fighting over a name for their baby. The article claimed the stars were “fighting already,” just days after the birth of their son, because they couldn’t agree what to name their newborn boy. The webloid, however, had nothing to back up its assertions, which were really just conspiracy theories it picked up from another outlet.

Gossip Cop, though, has had reliable Payne-Cole sources for quite some time, and we exclusively debunked the report after learning it was “completely untrue.” Now two days later, HollywoodLies is reversing course. Contradicting its previous tale, the fabrication factory is now running an “exclusive” that’s headlined, “Liam Payne & Cheryl Are ‘Closer Than Ever’ After Baby Son’s Birth: They’re ‘Overflowing With Joy.'”

“Liam Payne & Cheryl are apparently totally in love with parenthood, but after welcoming their newborn boy, they’re also more in love with EACH OTHER,” write the serial fabricators, who say the One Direction singer is “overjoyed and loving every moment with his new fam! But not only is he thrilled to be a dad, his relationship with Cheryl has only grown stronger because of it.”

Of course, that’s not what the bad blog said earlier this week. Now all of a sudden, HollywoodLies has an “insider” not only for this new story, but also another “exclusive” purporting to know why Payne and Cole are keeping their child’s name secret. Where was this “insider” days ago when the webloid said the couple was fighting over the name and clashing in their new parental roles?

As Gossip Cop has repeatedly demonstrated, the disreputable outlet makes things up as it goes. It is the online publication’s M.O. to spread untrue information about a topic, and claim to have its own insight on the subject. The “exclusives” magically appear despite previously showing utter cluelessness.

That is what is happening here, with Payne, Cole, and their fans as the latest victims. HollywoodLies spread fake news, and then made up more fake news that wasn’t even consistent. The new articles may be positive, but they’re just as fabricated. Readers deserve better.
