HollywoodLife got caught making up a fabricated story about how Kylie Jenner was “heartbroken” Caitlyn Jenner’s Malibu home “burned down.” A little more than three hours after TMZ wrongly claimed on Friday that Caitlyn’s house was “destroyed in Southern California’s raging wildfires,” the fiction writers at the aptly nicknamed HollywoodLies took that misinformation and manufactured an article titled, “Kylie Jenner ‘Heartbroken’: Caitlyn Jenner’s Home Burned In Fire.” The often discredited outlet even went so far as to disingenuously contend it had a “source close to Kylie,” who told the website the young makeup mogul “feels horrible about [Caitlyn] losing her home to the fire.”

The reality is Caitlyn Jenner’s house did not burn down, and is still standing with much less damage than anticipated. But what HollywoodLies does on a near daily basis is take what appear to be legitimate news stories and then manufacture phony angles around them, complete with made-up quotations from unnamed sources who it untruthfully maintains are “close to” the subject of the report. In this instance, using TMZ’s inaccurate article about how Caitlyn’s Malibu home was burned in the Woolsey wildfire, HollywoodLies quickly crafted a bogus piece about how Kylie was “heartbroken” and “devastated” over her dad “losing” her house because it was “burned down.” Basically, the repeatedly disproven site was exposed once again for slapping together an entirely fake story.

HollywoodLies tried to cover its tracks by adding an update and re-writing parts of its article, but Gossip Cop found an original copy of its story with all its fabricated quotes. In the first version (before the blog tried to scrub some of it from the Internet), it read, “The Kylie Cosmetics CEO ‘feels absolutely heartbroken and devastated after hearing Caitlyn [Jenner] lost her home,’ a source close to Kylie EXCLUSIVELY shares with HollywoodLife.” Then, after citing the untrue TMZ report, the serial fibbers at that outlet wrote, “Kylie’s ‘so thankful’ her dad remains unharmed, she ‘feels horrible about her losing her home to the fire,’ our source explains.”

Not content with making up just one anonymous “source,” HollywoodLies doubled down by throwing in another concocted “Kardashian insider.” The fictitious story alleged, “A second source reiterates what our first insider is telling us… ‘Kylie is so shaken and in shock that the fires burnt down Caitlyn’s house.’” However, as noted above and widely reported, Caitlyn’s house is a bit charred but in tact.

There should be no question at this point about how HollywoodLies publishes phony stories, with fake quotations from supposed sources who are undoubtedly not “close” at all to the subjects of its articles. But it’s not just Gossip Cop who’s busted that site for posting contrived falsehoods. Kylie Jenner herself has blasted the blog on several occasions. On December 30, for example, Kylie tweeted, “This is not true. Don’t let em fool you” after the outlet made up a tall tale about her and then-boyfriend Tyga hosting a “massive” New Year’s Eve party in the Hollywood Hills.

Of course, Gossip Cop has been proven for years that HollywoodLies manufactures untrue stories about the youngest Jenner. Just a few days before she gave birth to her daughter Stormi, that blog asserted Kylie was “open” to a “reconciliation” and getting back together with Tyga. And shortly before that, the blog falsely maintained Kylie was retiring from celebrity life.” In each of those instances, the website swore up and down its information came from a “source” close to Kylie. Much like those claims, it’s abundantly clear with its latest report about Kylie being “heartbroken” and “devastated” about Caitlyn “losing her home to the fire” that HollywoodLife is lying.
