Harvey Weinstein’s wife Georgina Chapman did not respond to his sexual assault scandal by asking for another baby, despite an absurd and provably untrue report. Gossip Cop can correct the claim. The fashion designer revealed in a recent interview what really happened last October when the allegations against her husband first emerged.

According to Naughty Gossip, immediately after The New York Times published an article detailing years of alleged sexual assault by Weinstein, his wife’s reaction was to ask him for another child. “She was on the phone with Harvey and he agreed,” an alleged insider tells the blog. The supposed source continues, “He had instructed his lawyer to write up the paperwork. It was strange. It seemed like a business decision rather than a move made out of love.”

The website fails to explain Chapman’s exact reasoning for wanting to have another baby. The notion that it was a “business decision” doesn’t make much sense. What was the plan exactly? For Chapman to have a third child with Weinstein, then divorce him and get more child support than she would with just two kids? And why would the disgraced mogul be on board with that? It’s also worth noting, it’s been reported that Weinstein can’t afford child support for his two daughters from his marriage to first wife Eve Chilton. Also, People reported earlier this year that Chapman will get $15 to 20 million as part of their prenuptial agreement.

The blog’s article gets even more confusing. After claiming Chapman wanted another baby as part of a “business decision,” a second questionable source says the Marchesa designer had decided to stand by her husband amid the scandal. “She made it clear that they were partners and that they would get through this together.”

In addition to the outlet’s article being completely confounding, it’s also entirely untrue. Last month, Chapman told Vogue what really happened when the Weinstein scandal broke. “I lost ten pounds in five days. I couldn’t keep food down,” she said. “And I knew that I needed to step away and take the kids out of here.” Chapman did just that.

As the allegations against Weinstein continued to mount, Chapman fled New York City and took their two kids to Los Angeles. From there, the designer went to London and temporarily stayed with her friend David Oyelowo and his wife. After that, Chapman went to be with her parents in England. At no point did the designer ever consider staying with Weinstein, and she certainly didn’t come up with the idea to have another baby with him.

Conclusion: Chapman’s course of action following the allegations against Weinstein disprove the blog’s report. The fashion designer immediately walked away from her husband last October when news of his alleged sexual misconduct emerged. Gossip Cop has also reached out to a rep for Chapman, but it’s abundantly clear that Naughty Gossip’s account of the situation is ridiculous and false.
