Harrison Ford’s friends and family are not concerned about his health ahead of the filming for the next Indiana Jones movie, despite a made-up tabloid report. There’s no truth to the story. Gossip Cop has investigated the claim and we can bust it.

An article in the latest issue of the National Enquirer claims the 77-year-old actor has been intensifying his workouts to get in shape for the fifth Indiana Jones movie, and his “loved ones are urging him to slow down!” The publication quotes a supposed “insider” as saying, “Harrison is lifting weights and doing cardio every morning. He’s working on his flexibility and building muscle before he shoots one more Indiana Jones next year.”

The constant workouts, according to the source, have been taking a toll on the legendary movie star. “It’s really tough to see him in this state – like he’s a struggling actor hungry for his big break,” says the supposed tipster. “He’s killing himself in the gym and coming out absolutely drained. Apart from the fat paycheck he’ll be earning, you have to wonder what he’s trying to prove.”

The anonymous tipster further contends that Ford’s preparations for the role are “just another exercise in vanity,” but the strenuous workouts are negatively impacting his health instead of strengthening it. This whole storyline is coming from an anonymous source, but Gossip Cop reached out to a spokesperson for the actor, who calls the story both false and “shameful.”

It’s worth noting, the tabloid says at one point in its piece that Ford was “expected to bow out of playing Indy,” but that is not true at all. Ford’s long been attached to Indiana Jones 5, as reported by CinemaBlend in 2016. To date, he’s the only cast member officially confirmed for the film, which is expected to hit theaters in 2021. In addition to the overall premise of the tabloid’s story being false, the article is also filled with inaccuracies.

This isn’t the first time Gossip Cop has corrected a phony Enquirer story about the movie star. Back in 2017, shortly after his Star Wars co-star Carrie Fisher died, the magazine published an article claiming Ford snubbed Fisher’s funeral over her revelation in her memoir that the two had an affair. The report was completely false. Gossip Cop pointed out that Ford was one of the first people to pay tribute to the actress after her unexpected death.

Meanwhile, this idea of a star working out to the point of exhaustion is a common trope for the gossip media. In July, the Enquirer’s sister publication, RadarOnline, posted a similarly bogus report about Ben Affleck “working out to the point of collapse.” His friends were also said to be “concerned.” This recurring theme didn’t apply to Affleck, and it’s no more accurate in Ford’s case.
