Gwyneth Paltrow is not pregnant, despite speculation about a supposed baby bump. Gossip Cop can exclusively bust the untrue claims. The Oscar winner's rep confirms to us that she is not expecting.
The unfounded rumor was started by RadarOnline, with the headline, "Baby On Board? Gwyneth Paltrow Shows Off Belly Bump In Bikini." The accompanying article begins with the site asking, "Is Gwyneth Paltrow pregnant?" Pointing to a photo Paltrow shared on Instagram from her bachelorette party in Mexico, the blog alleges she had a "slight bump." The picture shows the actress standing on a beach while wearing a blue bikini. There's nothing about her appearance that really suggests she's expecting, and the outlet has no proof to back up its theory.
Notably, other publications didn't jump to the same pregnancy conclusion. JustJared, for example, titled its post, "Gwyneth Paltrow Hits the Beach During Bachelorette Party in Cabo San Lucas," and simply noted, "Gwyneth took to her Instagram to share a bikini photo while enjoying some fun in the sun." ETOnline told readers, "Gwyneth Paltrow Shares Bikini Snap From Her Bachelorette Party: See the Pic!" The story said in a straight-forward manner, "In the photo, Paltrow shows off a huge smile and her bikini bod on the sun-bleached sand."
Only RadarOnline looked at Paltrow's relatively flat stomach and apparently decided it wasn't flat enough, so she must be pregnant. "It's shameful," her spokesperson tells Gossip Cop exclusively, stressing that Paltrow is "not pregnant" and has "no signs of a bump." The rep points out, "This is an example why women get so screwed up with body image." The website does have a history of body-shaming. Gossip Cop called the site out last fall for a cruel article about Hollywood stars who have gained weight.
On top of having a fixation on women's bodies, the blog has also shown itself to be unknowledgeable when it comes to reporting on Paltrow. Last October, the website insisted Paltrow's friendship with Cameron Diaz had fallen apart. Yet Diaz was among the celebrities who stepped out this weekend for Paltrow's engagement party. Clearly, they're still pals, contrary to what the outlet had claimed.
Additionally, Paltrow showed no sign of a baby bump at the party, for which she was photographed in a Giambattista Valli Collection dress. But even in a separate post about the bash, the publication tries to continue its pregnancy narrative, claiming she was "looking larger around the middle lately," and wondering if she was "in the family way" after "flaunting a belly bump." Referring to Paltrow and fiance Brad Falchuk, the site asks, "Are they expecting a baby?" As her spokesperson has made clear, the answer is no.
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
