A blog claims Gwyneth Paltrow is "fuming" over Julia Roberts hanging out with her ex-husband Chris Martin. The premise is completely untrue. Gossip Cop can exclusively debunk it.
According to RadarOnline, Paltrow has had a falling out with Roberts for choosing Martin's side in their supposed rift. An alleged insider tells the blog, "Julia was at Gwyneth's engagement party but missed her wedding and then showed up at the party Chris and Dakota [Johnson] were throwing instead."
The site's story is inaccurate from the very start. Paltrow's wedding was held on September 29 in the Hamptons, while the party thrown by Martin and Johnson was on October 7 in Los Angeles. Not only did Martin's event take place on a different coast, it also took place more than a week later. Roberts didn't choose one celebration over the other.
Still, the outlet's supposed source adds, "Gwyneth and Chris stayed friendly after their divorce but things have changed and it's been difficult for their mutual pals to stay friends with them both." The questionable tipster further contends that Roberts is "taking sides and has decided she's on his."
The website's story is based on claims from an anonymous and untraceable "insider," but Gossip Cop checked in with Paltrow's spokesperson, who tells us on the record that it's complete nonsense. Despite what a seemingly nonexistent "source" claims, a rep qualified to speak on the actress's behalf assures us there's no truth to the blog's report.
It's worth noting, the actress isn't on bad terms with her ex-husband, so the entire article is based on a flawed premise. Earlier this year, Paltrow said Martin is "like my brother" while discussing their amicable relationship in an interview. Just a few weeks ago, Paltrow opened up about her split from Martin on her Goop podcast. The actress said the two are "very like-minded" and both "really were disappointed" that their marriage didn't work.
Additionally, RadarOnline has proven to have very little insight into the actress's personal life. Gossip Cop busted the site twice in April for wrongly speculating that Paltrow had a baby bump. One month later, when it became clear that she wasn't pregnant, the outlet made up a story about Paltrow having "secret plans" for a baby. Time has proven that article false as well. As for this latest story, Paltrow is still close with Roberts and she's on good terms with her ex-husband. The drama being stirred up by the blog is baseless.
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
