Over the holidays, Gwyneth Paltrow and her new husband Brad Falchuk joined her ex-husband Chris Martin and his girlfriend Dakota Johnson on a trip to the Maldives. One of this week's tabloids claims the vacation almost didn't happen because the two actresses were at odds, but they attended therapy together to make peace. Gossip Cop has learned the narrative is completely untrue.

An alleged insider tells Woman's Day New Zealand that Paltrow and Johnson "got off the a rocky start" when the Fifty Shades star first started dating Martin, who "made it very clear that unless Gwyn went to extra efforts to welcome Dakota into the fold, their relationship would continue to worsen and have a negative effect on the kids." The supposed source goes on to say that when the idea of traveling to the Maldives first emerged, Johnson told her boyfriend she "didn't feel comfortable" spending the holidays with his ex-wife.

According to the magazine, however, the two actresses sat down with a therapist to settle their differences. "They both worked through numerous jealousy issues and agreed to set better better boundaries," says the questionable tipster. "They still have a long way to go and many problems to continue working through with their counsellor, but they're on the right track and they've brokered a peace deal." The seemingly phony source concludes, "The Maldives vacation has very much been a work in progress and Chris is hoping the holiday will be a new start for them all."

There are a few problems with the tabloid's phony report. Last February, Paltrow and Johnson both attended Ellen DeGeneres' 60th birthday party, where they were accompanied by their respective partners, Falchuk and Martin. "Entertainment Tonight" even used the headline "Friendly Exes!" in an article about the foursome getting together. Woman's Day also fails to mention that Johnson spent Thanksgiving with Paltrow, Martin and the their kids. The two actresses didn't need to mend fences before going to the Maldives together last month.

Additionally, the magazine's story is based on claims from an anonymous and untraceable "source," but Gossip Cop reached out to Paltrow's spokesperson, who tells us on the record that it's fabricated. Despite what the outlet's seemingly imaginary "insider" claims, the actress's rep confirms that she and Johnson never attended therapy together.

Unfortunately, the tabloids have been trying to create drama between the two actresses for quite some time. Back in April, Gossip Cop busted In Touch for falsely claiming that Paltrow was trying to "sabotage" Johnson and Martin's relationship. Shortly before that, OK! made up a story about Paltrow "banning" Johnson from hanging out with her kids. This latest take on the dynamic between the two women is equally baseless.

Our Verdict

Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
