Will Chris Martin be Gwyneth Paltrow's best man? A report claims the bride-to-be wants her ex-husband to play a role in her wedding. Gossip Cop, however, can bust the story.
"The Wedding's On! Gwyn Wants To Make Chris Her Best Man," declares a headline in Heat, which alleges, "Her ex will be there when she consciously couples with Brad [Falchuk]." The idea supposedly comes from the former couple's 13-year-old daughter, Apple. If the teen "has her away," claims the tabloid, her father will be "dusting off his tux and taking on some wedding duties."
A so-called "source" is quoted as saying, "Apple is really into the whole thing and wants to be chief wedding planner. She thinks it's cool that she gets to see her mum get married." It's even alleged she's "demanding a white dress, bridesmaids and a bouquet-throwing extravaganza." The British outlet's supposed snitch goes on to claim, "She'd also like Chris to be the best man, and Gwyn seems happy with all of her suggestions."
"It might seem a bit odd, but Brad is open to it," continues the alleged tipster. "He sees Gwyn as the arbiter of all that's progressive. Plus, he knows it'll make her kids happy, so why not?" Still, the gossip magazine is skeptical. "Gwyn, if you're reading this, perhaps Chris might be better off as the wedding singer? Just a suggestion," writes the publication.
Gossip Cop can virtually guarantee Paltrow is not spending her time reading Heat. We also have no qualms bluntly stating that it doesn't matter what the tabloid thinks is or isn't appropriate for the actress' wedding. It certainly isn't the gossip media's business. And this magazine in particular has no right to comment when its assertions aren't even true. The contention that Paltrow plans to ask Martin to be best man is entirely bogus, we're told.
Gossip Cop suspects that it's simply because Paltrow posted an Instagram photo in November of Martin and Falchuk with the caption "modern family" that outlets are keen to link the Coldplay front man to the nuptials. Last week, for example, we busted OK! Australia for alleging Paltrow wanted Martin to walk her down the aisle. A rep for the Oscar winner told us point-blank that the claim was total "bull."
Paltrow only just debuted her engagement ring a few days ago, and she hasn't revealed anything about specific wedding plans. Suffice it to say, real details won't be leaking through the tabloids.
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
