Gwyneth Paltrow "banned" Dakota Johnson from hanging out with the kids she shares with Chris Martin, according to an inaccurate tabloid report. Gossip Cop can debunk the story and explain what's really going on.
The article in question can be found in the pages of OK! with the headline, "Gwyneth Ices Out Dakota." Though the gossip magazine acknowledges that Paltrow, her fiance Brad Falchuk and Martin are "one, big happy family," it's alleged she's "drawn the line at adding Chris' new love to the mix." A so-called "insider" is quoted as saying, "Whenever she runs into Dakota, Gwyneth acts sweet, but she's told Chris she doesn't like her."
What, exactly, doesn't Paltrow like about Johnson? Tellingly, the outlet never says. Nevertheless, it's claimed she's "banned" the Fifty Shades actress "from get-togethers with her or her kids." Contends the supposed source, "She and Brad tease Chris for dating someone 12 years younger, but in reality, Gwyneth feels threatened." It's odd, however, to allege she's "threatened" by her ex-husband's relationship when Paltrow just announced her engagement on Instagram less than two weeks ago.
On Johnson's end, the publication's alleged tipster maintains she's "hurt, but she knows the deal and she won't go where she's not welcome. It's a problem Chris needs to sort out." Actually, it's a problem the tabloid manufactured. It seems simply because she's yet to publicly be seen with the singer's children, OK! concocted a narrative about her being "banned" from spending time with them.
But the couple's romance has only just progressed to the point where they're comfortable being seen in public together, with Martin and Johnson showing PDA for the first time on a beach a few days ago. If their relationship continues to move forward, she'll start spending time with his kids. That she isn't now has nothing to do with Paltrow. In fact, the Oscar winner's rep exclusively tells Gossip Cop the claims here are "total bull."
It's also worth noting that this rivalry angle isn't exactly original. Back in November, the magazine's online sister publication, RadarOnline, falsely claimed Paltrow was "jealous" of Martin and Johnson's blossoming romance. Just like now, it wasn't said specifically why the Oscar winner supposedly had a problem with Johnson, but merely alleged she was bothered by her ex moving on. But considering Paltrow is committed to Falchuk and currently planning their future together, it's ridiculous to allege she's preoccupied by Johnson and Martin's relationship. And, by the way, Paltrow knew the actress long before the Coldplay front man got close to her. See a photo from 2014 below.
Gossip Cop believes there to be elements of truth, but the story is ultimately misleading.
