Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton are not going to star in a big-screen “Gunsmoke” remake, despite a report. Gossip Cop can exclusively correct the story, which comes from one of the tabloids.

It says in the new edition of the National Enquirer, “There’s a new marshal galloping toward Dodge City, and his name’s… Blake Shelton! Western fans are thrilled at whispers that ‘Gunsmoke’ — one of TV’s longest running series, with James Arness as Marshal Matt Dillon — will hit the big screen starring country crooner/’The Voice’ stud Blake… and luscious squeeze Gwen Stefani.”

A so-called “spy” is quoted as saying, “Tons of movie idols — notably Bradley Cooper and Ben Affleck — are mulling the iconic role, but Blake’s country authenticity, good looks, humor and swagger make him a shoo-in!” The supposed source continues in unnaturally expository language, “And sexy Gwen — who debuted her movie career in 2004 playing mega-vamp Jean Harlow in The Aviator — loves the idea of playing hard-ass, sexy saloon owner Miss Kitty (memorably played by Amanda Blake), who famously had the hots for Marshal Dillon.”

That’s a lot of details crammed into just a few sentences. And if it’s sounds far-fetched, well, that’s because it is. Gossip Cop has learned that production on such a project is slated to start in a week from… never. A rep for Stefani exclusively tells us this yarn is “untrue.”
