A new report claiming Gwen Stefani got "emotional" after she received an expensive diamond necklace from Blake Shelton for her birthday is entirely made-up. In fact, there's absolutely no proof Shelton even gave Stefani the pricey piece of jewelry. Gossip Cop got to the bottom of this fabrication.
According to HollywoodLife, which is often caught peddling fake news stories about the couple, Stefani "fought back the tears" when Shelton allegedly gifted her with a $60,000 diamond necklace. A so-called "source" is quoted telling the website in unnaturally descriptive language, "Gwen was surprised by Blake today with an amazing vintage Cartier 12.50 carat diamond collar necklace set in 18k white gold. Gwen was floored when she received the sweet, generous birthday gift." The outlet's most assuredly fake "insider" goes on to purport, "She fought back the tears as she opened the box," adding, "Gwen can't wait for the next special occasion with Blake to wear the gorgeous new jewelry."
So, where did Shelton give Stefani the supposed necklace? HollywoodLies, as it's nicknamed, doesn't know or mention it. Where did Shelton buy the alleged $60,000 vintage Cartier necklace? The site doesn't know or mention it. Yet somehow readers are asked to believe that the site has a "source" who witnessed this intensely private and romantic moment and managed to get all the details about the "12.50 carat diamond necklace set in 18k white gold"? Show of hands if you think the outlet is lying? Exactly.
As Gossip Cop has noted, Hollywood has published a slew of fake news stories about Stefani and Shelton in the past. For example, we busted the untrustworthy site a few months ago when it falsely claimed Shelton and Stefani had split up. We also recently called out the outlet for a ridiculous article that alleged Stefani is "acting" pregnant. Both those reports and many others have been shown to be manufactured.
The latest article about Shelton supposedly bringing Stefani to "tears" with a $60,000 birthday gift is equally untrue. Irrespective of its archive of falsehoods, Gossip Cop still looked into the claim, and a source close to Stefani tells us the report is completely "made-up." It's true Stefani celebrated her 48th birthday on Tuesday, but we're assured the rest of HollywoodLies' claims about the necklace and her reaction to it are entirely fabricated.
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
