One of this week’s tabloids claims Gwen Stefani is calling off her wedding to Blake Shelton despite being pregnant with his baby. The story is completely made-up. Gossip Cop can exclusively debunk it.
According to OK!, the singer recently got pregnant following several rounds of IVF treatments and was planning to marry her boyfriend on his Oklahoma ranch, but that all changed when he “started acting distant and noncommittal about finalizing the details.” A supposed source tells the magazine that Shelton eventually “admitted he had cold feet after two failed marriages,” and Stefani decided “to nix the wedding.”
“She’s been in tears ever since,” adds the magazine’s supposed source. “Part of it could be pregnancy hormones, but she’s also nursing a broken heart. Gwen thinks Blake is making lame excuses after three years together.” The questionable tipster adds, “They haven’t broken up, but things are pretty tense and emotional.”
Nothing about this story is remotely true. For starters, Stefani said on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” last month that she and Shelton aren’t engaged. Simply put, the pop star didn’t call off nonexistent wedding plans. As for the baby rumors, the unreliable outlet fails to mention that Stefani is performing her Las Vegas residency through November. It’s absurd to believe she’ll be singing and dancing on stage every night throughout her supposed pregnancy.
In addition to the magazine’s story lacking logic, it’s also based on claims from an anonymous and untraceable source. Gossip Cop, however, checked in with Stefani’s spokesperson, who tells us on the record that the article is entirely “untrue.” Despite what the tabloid’s seemingly imaginary insider says, the singer’s rep confirms that she’s not pregnant and never had a wedding in the works.
It’s worth noting, OK! has trouble keeping track of its phony stories about the couple. Gossip Cop busted the publication in January 2018 for wrongly reporting that Stefani was already pregnant and married to Shelton. In August 2017, the outlet falsely claimed that Shelton had “dumped” Stefani. One month before that, Gossip Cop called out the magazine for making up a story about Shelton and Stefani having twins.
The tabloid’s various articles about the couple have more in common with fan fiction and soap operas than journalism. It’s clear the outlet doesn’t have any real sources close to Stefani and Shelton, or it wouldn’t keep concocting bogus reports about their romance. This latest article surrounding a pregnancy and canceled wedding is more fiction.
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
