Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton still haven't welcomed twins, despite a wrong report a year ago that claimed she was pregnant with two babies. Gossip Cop told readers 12 months ago that the article was made-up. Now time has proven we were right.
On July 26, 2017, OK! published a cover story announcing Stefani was carrying "miracle babies at 47." The tabloid alleged in its tall tale, "Friends are whispering that not only is a wedding around the corner, but Gwen is expecting twins." Unsurprisingly, the magazine had no proof she was actually pregnant with one baby, let alone two. A so-called "source" even admitted that given Stefani's age, "a pregnancy would be nothing short of a miracle."
Still, this unnamed snitch insisted, "Word is [twins] run in her family, on her dad's side, and friends are saying she's been talking constantly about Beyonce's pregnancy and wanting to reach out to her for advice. People are starting to put two and two together." But, underscoring how poorly manufactured this article was, the same supposed "source" who wasn't positive Stefani was expecting went on to claim to the magazine that Stefani broke the news of the purported pregnancy to Shelton during his birthday the month prior.
But the biggest sign this was all a fabrication was that the outlet published virtually the same cover story almost exactly a year before this one. Sure, the specifics varied, but in both cases, the publication wanted readers to believe Stefani was pregnant with twins (see below). And in both cases, the tabloid was wrong. In fact, not only did Stefani's spokesperson confirm to Gossip Cop on the record that this latest pregnancy narrative was "not true," just like the one before it, but we also learned OK! didn't even reach out to her camp to verify its claims.
So off-base was this article, Gossip Cop named it one of our top rumors of 2017. And that's not all. Shelton himself mocked such "twins" rumors this past February, more than six months after the made-up cover story was published. As Gossip Cop reported then, the country superstar jokingly told fans at a concert that they were "very lucky" Stefani was there because she "actually gave birth to twins yesterday."
For the record, had the songstress actually been pregnant last July as alleged, she would've given birth this past spring. But there was no baby bump on display when Stefani and Shelton attended the ACM Awards in April. Furthermore, in June, Stefani kicked off her Las Vegas residency, which she wouldn't have been able to do if she was caring for two newborns and had only given birth weeks prior. As the passage of time has shown, along with all the evidence Gossip Cop has gathered, it is indisputable that OK! was wrong when it claimed Stefani and Shelton were expecting twins 365 days ago.
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
