Is Gwen Stefani forcing Blake Shelton to give up meat and carbs to lose weight? Gossip Cop looked into this familiar story. It's all nonsense.
In an article published in this week's Globe, an anonymous source says that Shelton's been packing on the pounds since he and Stefani started dating in 2015. The tabloid claims the No Doubt singer is demanding that her boyfriend stay away "from meat and bad carbs" to lose at least 20 pounds. The supposed insider goes on to say that Shelton has "had a hard time keeping up with Gwen over the last couple years. She's totally into her workouts and vegetarian diet and staying healthy."
The alleged tipster adds, "Giving up his meat and potatoes makes him sad, but he'll do it if it pleases her." If the magazine had bothered to do any fact-checking before making up this story, it would have learned that Stefani threw a pizza party for Shelton's birthday in June. The singer even made her boyfriend a pepperoni pizza, the perfect mix of both meat and carbs. She's obviously not trying to force him to change his diet.
This is basically just another recycled rumor that the tabloids have unsuccessfully tried to use before. The narrative was invented because Stefani is a longtime vegetarian while her country singer boyfriend comes from a culture defined by red meat and hunting. The tabloids saw an opportunity to exploit this scenario.
In a 2017 interview on the Today show, Shelton addressed the amount of rumors about him and Stefani . "Any time you see a story about us, it's either that it's a fake relationship or that we're already married," the country star said. "Or we're gonna get married, or she's on her second set of twins. Or, you know, I'm sneaking behind her back to eat meat. I eat meat right in front of her face!"
Gossip Cop busted the Globe's sister publication, the National Enquirer, for alleging in January that Stefani gave Shelton an ultimatum to get fit or get dumped. As we covered in that bust, Stefani has publicly stated that her boyfriend is the one who motivates her to go the gym, which isn't exactly the lifestyle of someone as unhealthy as the Globe claims.
As far back as 2017, Gossip Cop had to debunk claims about Stefani demanding that Shelton lose weight. This storyline wasn't true two years ago, and it's no more accurate now. A source close to the situation also confirms that this latest article is more of the same nonsense.
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
