Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton did not get married on her 50th birthday earlier this month, despite a ridiculous tabloid story. The couple hasn't secretly tied the knot. Gossip Cop can debunk the claim otherwise.
Earlier this month, Stefani and Shelton went on a camping getaway in California to celebrate her milestone birthday. According to Life & Style, however, this wasn't just a birthday trip. The outlet claims the two got hitched during a "hush-hush wedding in the woods."
"Gwen thought she was just going camping for her birthday with Blake," says a supposed source, "but what she got turned out to be the surprise of a lifetime." The alleged insider goes on to say the No Doubt singer's friends and family helped her boyfriend organize a surprise vow exchange ceremony during the trip. "It was a fairly-tale wedding under the stars, and Gwen said it was one of the best moments of her life."
The seemingly phony tipster further contends that Shelton "got Gwen's friends and her sister to help him pick out a dress, flowers and the rings." As the story goes, when Stefani arrived at a canopy in the woods, an ordained minister was there waiting. "Gwen was absolutely blown away," adds the suspicious source.
From there, the "insider" maintains that Stefani and Shelton are planning a second, bigger celebration to be held in either Los Angeles or Oklahoma, with a guest list that includes their Voice co-stars Kelly Clarkson, John Legend and Adam Levine. Naturally, the tabloid's story wouldn't be complete without throwing a baby into the mix. "Having a mini-me running around would be a dream come true for Gwen," says the questionable insider, adding that the singer is hoping to welcome a baby girl with Shelton.
The magazine's report has more in common with fan fiction than it does with anything resembling journalism. Stefani and Shelton aren't secretly married, and there was no ceremony in the woods on her 50th birthday. Gossip Cop checked in with sources close to the situation, and we're assured the outlet's report is 100 percent fabricated.
It must me mentioned, Life & Style has no concern for consistency when it comes to making up stories about the couple. Less than a month ago, Gossip Cop busted the tabloid for falsely claiming Stefani was pregnant and Shelton planned on proposing to her on The Voice. That imaginary scenario isn't mentioned in this latest report.
In May, the publication offered a very different take on the couple's romance. Gossip Cop called out the magazine for alleging Shelton had dumped Stefani on Mother's Day. That's very different than marrying his girlfriend on her birthday. Neither narrative is a reality.
Just one month before that, Life & Style insisted Stefani announced she was pregnant with Shelton's baby during a wedding at his Oklahoma ranch. In the fantasy world of the magazine, the couple also eloped in Mexico last year. Did we mention the twin girls they were having? Stefani was expecting those babies last December, per the outlet. The tabloid's inconsistency and constant fiction is flat-out staggering.
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
