One of this week’s tabloids claims Gwen Stefani is having her marriage to Gavin Rossdale annulled so she can marry Blake Shelton and have it be recognized by the Catholic church. The story is made-up. Gossip Cop can debunk it.

“Gwen & Blake: Their Biggest Hurdle Yet,” reads a headline in the latest issue of Us Weekly. The accompanying article says the couple is eager to walk down the aisle “but they want to make sure they have God on their side” before doing so.

A supposed source tells the magazine that Stefani is in “the formal process” of having her marriage to Rossdale annulled, adding, “Gwen’s religion has always been extremely important to her, and Blake is completely supportive of this.” The alleged insider adds, “The process could take up to a year, and they’re willing to wait. Once the annulment is granted, Blake and Gwen will immediately get married.”

The suspicious tipster further contends that Rossdale is unhappy with his ex-wife’s plan because he’s “not a huge fan of traditional religions” and “is worried that Gwen and Blake will push their beliefs” on his three young boys with the No Doubt singer.

The tabloid’s story is based on claims from an unidentified insider, but Gossip Cop checked in with a rep qualified to speak on Stefani’s behalf, and we’re assured the story is “untrue.” Despite what the magazine’s anonymous “source” claims, the singer’s spokesperson tells us on the record that she’s not in the process of having her first marriage annulled.

The outlet also doesn’t bother to mention that just a few months ago, Stefani said she feels “zero pressure” to marry Shelton. The singer further noted that both of them experienced “trauma” in their past relationships and are “trying to be in the moment as much as we can.”

It’s worth noting, Us Weekly has already proven to have little insight into the couple’s relationship. Back in January, Gossip Cop busted the tabloid for wrongly reporting that Stefani and Shelton would be “announcing their engagement soon.” More than two months have passed since that article was published and the two still aren’t engaged.

Back in November, Gossip Cop called out the magazine for falsely claiming Stefani and Shelton were using a surrogate to have a baby. That never happened. The outlet’s subsequent articles about the couple haven’t addressed what happened to their supposed surrogacy plans. The tabloid’s Stefani and Shelton “sources” appear to be very unreliable or flat-out nonexistent.
