Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton aren't collaborating on a joint album, despite a made-up report. Gossip Cop can exclusively debunk the claim. We're told the two singers aren't currently working on new music together.
The No Doubt singer and the country star have recorded songs together in the past, but according to HollywoodLife, they're planning to make an entire album together. A supposed source tells the blog, "Gwen would like to have different types of music on the album, so both of their fans would be satisfied. She is open to record country songs with Blake or even write some more fun pop songs and get Blake to stretch out of his comfort zone." The website's alleged insider doesn't know when the couple will be releasing their supposed album, but insists it will "happen sooner than later."
It seems the blog's tipster is either misinformed or nonexistent. Gossip Cop reached out to Stefani's spokesperson, who had zero knowledge of the singer working on an album with her boyfriend. It's safe to say that a rep qualified to speak on the singer's behalf knows more about her career plans than the site's so-called "insider."
The music superstars previously teamed up for the song "You Make It Feel Like Christmas," which was featured on Stefani's 2017 Christmas album of the same name. They also performed the track "Go Ahead and Break My Heart" from Shelton's 2016 album If I'm Honest. It's very possible they'll record more songs together in the future, but Gossip Cop is told there's no joint album currently in the works.
It's worth noting, HollywoodLife has come up with this phony premise before. Gossip Cop called out the blog just a few months ago for wrongly reporting that Shelton was pushing Stefani to make a joint album. At the time, a "source" told the site that the pop star wasn't on board with the idea because she and her boyfriend have "very different music styles." The blog's new article, which says Stefani is eager to blend their techniques, completely contradicts its old one.
Additionally, the unreliable outlet has a history of making up fake collaborations between the couple. Gossip Cop previously busted the site for falsely claiming that Stefani and Shelton were doing a reality show together. That clearly never happened. Although it's within the realm of possibility that the couple will record a joint album at some point in the future, no such project is underway. The website's article is simply inaccurate.
Gossip Cop believes there to be elements of truth, but the story is ultimately misleading.
