Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton are not using a surrogate to have a baby, despite an inaccurate report. Gossip Cop can exclusively debunk the claim. We’re told it’s untrue.

A headline in the latest issue of Us Weekly reads, “Gwen & Blake’s Big Baby News.” The accompanying article quotes a supposed source as saying, “They are determined to have a child together and are in the final stages of choosing the woman who will carry their baby.” The alleged insider further contends that it’s “extremely important” to the 49-year-old singer that she gives her boyfriend “a biological child.”

The questionable tipster goes on to say that Stefani “really wanted to carry their baby,” but after multiple unsuccessful IVF attempts over the past few years, she accepted that “it wasn’t going to happen.” According to the “source,” however, the singer hasn’t stopped trying to conceive naturally despite being in the process of hiring a surrogate. “Gwen’s been joking with friends that she and Blake could end up with two babies around the same time,” adds the suspicious source. The “insider” concludes that Stefani, who’s the mother of three boys, is “now hoping for a girl.”

The magazine’s article is based on claims from an anonymous and untraceable “insider,” but Gossip Cop checked in with a rep for Stefani, who tells us on the record that it’s false. The couple isn’t exploring surrogacy at this time. Should their plans change in the future, we’ll be sure to update, but we’re told the music stars have no plans to have a baby right now. Gossip Cop has also reached out to Shelton’s spokesperson for a comment.

With its latest article, Us Weekly is celebrating yet another nonexistent milestone in the couple’s relationship. For instance, in September 2016, the magazine wrongly reported that Stefani and Shelton would get married before the end of the year. Two months later, the outlet insisted that Stefani and Shelton were “starting to finalize” wedding arrangements. The pair still haven’t tied the knot more than two years later.

It’s becoming evident that the magazine’s insiders are either nonexistent or very unreliable. Gossip Cop, however, has a good relationship with reps qualified to speak on behalf of both Stefani and Shelton. Their respective spokespeople have gone on the record several times to debunk false stories about the pair, and the passage of time always proves that the couple’s reps are more trustworthy than a tabloid’s so-called “sources.”
