Gwen Stefani and Blake Shelton are not “going to be announcing their engagement soon,” despite an inaccurate report. Gossip Cop can exclusively correct the claim. The couple of more than three years is going strong, but they’re simply not headed down the aisle in the immediate future.

A headline in the latest issue of Us Weekly reads, “Gwen & Blake Inch Closer To ‘I Do!’” The accompanying article says the music superstars are on the verge of getting engaged. Naturally, the outlet doesn’t provide an actual time frame of when it will happen. Still, a supposed source tells the magazine, “Blake has always wanted to marry Gwen, but she’s always been extremely cautious because she has three kids to be mindful of.” The alleged insider, however, further contends that when Stefani and Shelton do walk down the aisle, her sons “will be a very big part of the ceremony.”

In Touch also picked up the story without bothering to do any fact-checking. The article is based on claims from an anonymous and untraceable “source,” but Gossip Cop reached out to Stefani’s spokesperson, who tells us on the record the report is simply “not true.” Despite what the tabloid’s tipster claims, a rep qualified to speak on the No Doubt singer’s behalf tells us she’s not gearing up to announce an engagement.

In fact, Stefani said on the “Today” show last month there’s “zero pressure” to get engaged to her boyfriend, but they’re in a committed relationship and look forward to spending the future together. Shortly before that, Stefani said on “The Ellen DeGeneres Show” she doesn’t have any immediate plans to get married.

It should be noted, Us Weekly has already proven to have little insight into the couple’s relationship. Gossip Cop busted the publication two months ago for wrongly reporting Stefani and Shelton were using a surrogate to have a baby. That clearly never happened.

Meanwhile, the magazine insisted in September 2016 that Stefani and Shelton would be married before the end of the year. Two months later, the outlet published a follow-up story about Stefani and Shelton “starting to finalize” their wedding arrangements. It’s now more than two years later and the couple still isn’t engaged, let alone hitched.

It’s very possible that Stefani and Shelton will get married at some point down the road, but an engagement isn’t imminent. Us Weekly has a poor track record when it comes to accurately reporting about the couple’s romance, and this is yet another example.
