Gwen Stefani never put Blake Shelton on a "no-alcohol diet," despite a tabloid claiming one year ago that the singer had prohibited her boyfriend from drinking. Gossip Cop exclusively debunked the story last year. Time has proven it to be false.

On March 1, 2017, the National Enquirer wrongly reported that Stefani banned Shelton from drinking alcohol in an effort to get him to lose weight. An alleged insider was quoted as saying, "She told Blake that his regimen of guzzling beer, rum and tequila turned her off. So she gave him an ultimatum, it was either her or the bottle."

The outlet's questionable insider went on to say that the country singer was "hitting the bottle pretty much every day" when he and Stefani first started dating, but he quit booze at his girlfriend's behest because he "didn't want to lose her." But right after the unreliable magazine published this bogus story last year, a rep for Stefani exclusively assured Gossip Cop it was simply "not true."

In the year since the phony article was published, Shelton has continued to stay involved in his Smithworks Vodka brand. Additionally, Shelton and Stefani were spotted enjoying cocktails on the beach in Mexico in January. Clearly, the pop star doesn't have an issue with her boyfriend drinking alcohol, nor has she demanded that he lose weight.

Unfortunately, the Enquirer has published countless false reports about the famous couple since March 1 of last year. Gossip Cop recently busted the tabloid for wrongly reporting that Stefani had a miscarriage with Shelton's baby. Shortly before that, we corrected a similar story about the singer forcing her boyfriend to lose weight, but that bogus article left out the "no alcohol" angle.

Meanwhile, Gossip Cop also called out the magazine last year for falsely claiming that Shelton and Stefani were co-starring in a big-screen remake of the 1950's TV western "Gunsmoke." As is the case with the nonexistent alcohol ban, time has proven these articles to be untrue. The tabloid clearly has very little insight into the superstar couple's relationship, so it instead chooses to fabricate stories. Unfortunately, Gossip Cop suspects the untrustworthy outlet will continue to publish plenty of more fake news about the two.

Our Verdict

Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
