What ever happened to Blake Shelton and Gwen Stefani adopting an orphaned toddler? A year ago, a tabloid claimed just that. Gossip Cop busted the article once it was published, and time has proven us right.
The Globe argued that the couple was “so excited” about their chance to adopt a 2-year-old orphan girl. “They plan on making her a permanent part of their family after the new year,” the outlet’s unnamed source said. The tabloid didn’t offer up any details about who the child was, when Stefani and Shelton had met her, or anything else that might have made the claim believable.
The source said that the couple was nervous about how Stefani’s children would react to the idea and were prepared to call it all off if they opposed it. However, the insider said, Stefani’s kids were “overjoyed” and totally approved of the adoption. It concluded with a classic line about Stefani trying IVF treatments to no success and settling on adopting over surrogacy.
At the time of the original publishing, Gossip Cop reached out to Stefani’s official spokesperson. They went on the record with us to say the couple have no plans to adopt. We also pointed out that we had debunked the Globe‘s July claim that Stefani worried that her boyfriend wasn’t healthy enough to raise a child with her. The outlet went from declaring that Stefani wouldn’t have a baby with Shelton and wasn’t ready to add to her family to confidently saying that the couple had been trying to have a baby for months thanks to IVF. The tabloid’s sources can’t even stay consistent, and the magazine itself is no different.
In the 12 months since the original claim, Shelton and Stefani still haven’t expressed any interest in expanding their family. The couple is enjoying the widespread success of their single, “Nobody But You.” Shelton just released his newest album, Fully Reloaded: God’s Country. Stefani is doing her best to beat her fellow The Voice coach as the latest season comes to close. The family seems to be in a great place with no further plans for any additions to their family.
Unfortunately, the magazine doesn’t seem to have changed its tone since our initial bust. We debunked its August claim about Stefani forcing Shelton to give up meat and carbs to lose weight. So long as it keeps publishing fictional rumors, Gossip Cop will continue to call the tabloid out.
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
