Guardians Of The Galaxy 2 box Office

The box office has a new set of guardians this weekend, now that Star-Lord and his ragtag group are back in action for Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2. Get the details, and check out the Top 10 below!

The film adaptation of Guardians Of The Galaxy shook up the box office in 2014, becoming the year’s third highest-grossing movie. With an ensemble cast led by Chris Pratt, the Marvel flick was praised for injecting more humor into the superhero genre. Now Pratt (a.k.a. Peter Quill a.k.a. Star-Lord) is back for the second installment.

And just like last time, his band of misfits is causing serious damage at the box office. The sequel took in $145 million for its debut weekend, more than $35 million higher than the original’s opening weekend gross. It’s also higher than the debut of last month’s Fate Of The Furious, which sat atop of the box office chart for the last three weeks.

Well, not anymore. For its fourth weekend, Fate is galaxies away from the Guardians total, since it brought in just $8.5 million for second place. The Boss Baby added another $6.2 million to its haul for third. And with $5.2 million, How To Be A Latin Lover secured the number four spot. Close behind, though, was Beauty And The Beast, which earned $4.9 million for fifth place.

Rounding out the Top 10 were The Circle, which landed in sixth with $4 million, while Baahubali 2: The Conclusion finished in the seventh position with $3.2 million. Gifted nabbed eighth with $2 million, and Going In Style came in ninth with $1.9 million. Just making it into the Top 10 was Smurfs: The Lost Village. It earned $1.8 million.
