Guardians Of Galaxy 2 Box Office Second Weekend

Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2 still has control of the box office universe, and King Arthur didn’t even stand a chance of defeating the Marvel flick. Get the details, and check out the Top 10 below.

As Gossip Cop reported, the sequel to Guardians Of The Galaxy had a huge opening last week, out-performing its predecessor by more than $30 million. Now the second installment, again starring Chris Pratt and Zoe Saldana, held on to the number one spot for the second week in a row with a new gross of $63 million. While that’s a drop of nearly 60 percent from last week, moviegoers are still flocking to see the film, at least in comparison to the other offerings.

Amy Schumer convinced Goldie Hawn to return to the big screen for the first time in more than a decade, but their raunchy comedy, Snatched, only earned $17.5 million for a second-place debut, a rather small return for a wide release. But it’s not the bomb that is King Arthur: Legend Of The Sword. After much delay, Guy Ritchie’s remake with Charlie Hunnam has finally hit theaters, and had an opening of just $14.7 million. While third place doesn’t seem that bad, that amount is a pittance compared to the movie’s whopping $175 million budget. Former chart-topper Fate Of The Furious secured the number four spot with ticket sales of $5.3 million. And The Boss Baby followed in the fifth position with receipts adding up to $4.6 million.

Rounding out the Top 10 were Beauty And The Beast in sixth with $3.9 million. Salma Hayek’s How To Be A Latin Lover nabbed seventh with $3.75 million. Lowriders came in eighth with $2.4 million, while The Circle took ninth with $1.74 million. Just making it into the Top 10 was Baahubali 2: The Conclusion. It earned $1.5 million.
