Are Goldie Hawn and Kurt Russell really calling it quits after 35 years together? That's the claim in one of this week's tabloids. Gossip Cop can set the record straight.
"Goldie & Kurt: Inside Their Secret Split," reads a headline in the latest issue of OK! The accompanying article claims the longtime partners have been living separate lives for nearly a year. "Things have been tense between them for quite some time," an alleged insider tells the magazine. "Ultimately, they just got tired of the lies, betrayals and constant fighting, and made the painful decision to end their relationship."
The outlet's supposed source goes on to say that in 2017, "years of tensions finally boiled over, and they both began having fights over both of their rumored affairs." It should be noted, there's zero indication that either star has ever cheated during their 35-year relationship. Still, the suspicious tipster adds, "They both can get very jealous... It would take a lot of work for them to come back from this. Sadly, it seems as if they've already given up."
The magazine's bogus article is poorly timed. On Sunday, Hawn accompanied Russell to the premiere of his new Netflix movie The Christmas Chronicles, along with most of their kids and grandkids. The longtime couple happily posed together on the red carpet at the event, and Russell said in an interview that he and Hawn plan to spend Christmas with their family in Colorado.
Meanwhile, Russell opened up to the Daily Mail last week about how he and Hawn have maintained a strong relationship for 35 years. The actor noted that the two have always put each other before their careers, adding, "I very rarely worked when I knew Goldie was going to be working. And vice-versa. Which meant we could be together." He added, "I never thought that what the business could provide would ever take precedence over us."
It's worth noting, the magazine claims that the couple split a full year ago, but the actress has posted many loving tributes to her partner on social media over the past few months. On Father's Day earlier this year, Hawn shared an Instagram photo of her and Russell, and added the caption, "Here's to the best daddy and GRAND daddy!!" And in honor of the actor's birthday earlier this year, Hawn wrote on Instagram, "Happy birthday baby! Your light still tickles my nose... Lucky me!"
Just last week, Gossip Cop busted OK!'s sister outlet, Star, for publishing a similar story alleging that Hawn and Russell were "living separate lives" and headed for a split. The premise wasn't true last week and it's no more accurate now.
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
