Goldie Hawn is not demanding that Kurt Russell marry her, despite a false report claiming the actress is threatening to leave her longtime partner if he doesn't propose. Gossip Cop can debunk the rumor. There's no truth to it.
The couple of nearly four decades have never felt the need to get hitched, but according to the National Enquirer, Hawn has changed her mind following her son's recent wedding and supposed "health scares." "Goldie's ready for marriage," a so-called source tells the outlet, "and if Kurt's not on board, she'll find somebody else who is!" This anonymous source says that Hawn, upon seeing their son, Wyatt, get married earlier this year, decided she needed a ring.
"She realized then that she would want his future kids to know that their grandma and grandpa were married, too," states the suspicious source. The other contributing factor was a supposed 2017 cancer scare. "Goldie's had her share of health scares — and considering the years she's spent with Kurt, she believes the time is right to tie the knot." The tipster further claims that Hawn's "feelings about marriage have changed a little over time," but Russell "loves things the way they are and sees no reason to change it."
As we mentioned earlier, this is an extremely tired rumor. The Enquirer tried to pass off a similar story just a few weeks ago, claiming Hawn and Russell's were suddenly getting married after watching their son walk down the aisle. That article even included the line about making sure their grandkids "know their grandma and grandpa are married too." This time around, however, the magazine claims Russell isn't on board with the idea.
The couple has long distanced themselves from the idea of marriage. They're not suddenly acquiescing to the institution simply to make it easier to explain their relationship to a hypothetical grandchild. Furthermore, Hawn's daughter, actress Kate Hudson, has three kids already. Why would Hawn not feel the same way about her other grandkids, especially since Hudson has stated that she views Russell as a father? For that matter, this is Wyatt's second marriage, so why is she just now feeling this way? It's all nonsense.
As we mentioned in our previous bust of the Enquirer, Hawn is quite content in her current situation and has made her feelings on marriage quite clear. "I like waking up every day and seeing that he is there and knowing that I have a choice," Hawn told Woman's Day in a 2007 interview. "There is really no reason to marry."
This isn't even our first or second bust of the Enquirer for phony rumors about the couple. In addition to the aforementioned story about their son's wedding, Gossip Cop also called out the Enquirer in September 2017 for a bogus article about Hawn and Russell splitting and "living separate lives." No matter how many more years the tabloid makes up claims about the relationship, Gossip Cop will continue to debunk its nonsense.
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
