Giuliana Rancic did not demand E! News "ditch" Maria Menounos before returning to the entertainment cable network, despite a provably untrue tabloid report. Gossip Cop can correct this false claim about Rancic making her "one condition" to come back being that Menounos was gone. There's no feud, and the two things have nothing to do with one another.
According to a so-called "snitch" for the National Enquirer, Rancic recommended that Menounos replace her when she left the cable station three years ago. But, alleges the same unnamed tipster, "as soon as she left the building, Maria turned on Giuliana, making it impossible for both ladies to work together." The supposed source adds, "Now Maria is out of the picture, and Giuliana can't wait to return."
But Menounos stepped down from her duties at E! for health issues, a full year before Rancic announced her return. If the latter truly had an issue with Menounos, Rancic could have come back about 12 months ago when her successor left. As widely reported, in 2017 Menounos announced she was leaving E! to battle a brain tumor and work on passion projects, a fact the tabloid glaringly omitted.
Rancic, for her part, also left her full-time hosting duties for personal reasons. During an April 2018 appearance on "The View," Rancic again discussed her decision to prioritize her family over her career. After she and her husband Bill struggled with fertility issues for years, the couple (via a surrogate) welcomed a baby boy named Edward in 2012. And while she continued to still host the red carpet for E! before awards shows, Rancic said on the ABC chat show reiterated that her family was "the most important thing in the world" and the reason she stepped back from E! News three years earlier.
It should also be noted that Rancic is not replacing Menounos. She's coming back after Menounos's successor, Catt Sadler, quit E! News because her male co-host, Jason Kennedy, was earning significantly much money for the same job. Significantly, as well, not one single trade publication has made the same claim as the tabloid that Rancic's return is tied to the "one condition" that E! "ditch" Menounos.
To reiterate, there's no connection whatsoever to Menounos's departure a year ago for health reasons to Rancic's return now to E! News. It's completely untrue and illogical. Upon announcing her September 4 comeback to the daily entertaiment show, Rancic said, "Returning to host E! News is every bit as thrilling to me today as it was 16 years ago when I joined the show and embarked on this wonderful career." Actually, the only feud here is between the Enquirer and the truth.
Gossip Cop has determined this story is totally false.
