Gigi Hadid showed her support publicly for Zayn Malik on Sunday, one day after he canceled his performance at the Capital FM Summertime Ball in London at the very last minute. At the time, the singer opened up to his fans about suffering extreme “anxiety” when it comes to performing, and now his girlfriend Hadid expressed how his “bravery” to acknowledge his fears has made her “prouder” and “love” him.

As Gossip Cop previously reported, Malik bowed out shortly before he was supposed to hit the stage, along with Nick Jonas, Little Mix and other performers at the Capital FM Summertime Ball. He explained in a statement afterwards that he’s overcome with tremendous “anxiety” before live shows, and “with the magnitude of the event, I experienced the worst anxiety of my career.” He further promised then to do “my best to make this up to everybody I’ve let down today.” On Sunday, Malik thanked his fans on Twitter for their “kind messages of support” on the social media site, adding how it “means a lot” to him.

Not long after, Hadid praised Malik, who several outlets last week wrongly reported had split with the model. In a long message posted to Twitter on Sunday, Hadid wrote (below), “I’ve seen the battles you go through and the way you fight to get to a place that allows you to get up there for your fans. Your bravery in those times makes me prouder, but your honesty last night proved what you’re all about, being real. Human recognizes human.”

She continued, “You made the best of the situation and have given your fans an opportunity to understand you better as a performer. Those who can find compassion now are the ones that deserve to watch you continue to grow.” Hadid concluded, “We are all here to support you and make each experience easier. Your talent and good heart will never lead you wrong. Love you and so proud of you always :)”
