Gigi Hadid is NOT on a "liquid diet," despite an alarming, but untrue, report. Gossip Cop can bust the story, which comes from one of the tabloids.

An article in Star announces, "Fears For Gaunt Gigi! Is Fashion's Hottest It Girl Starving Herself To Stay on Top?" It's said, "Gigi Hadid's athletic, all-American look helped make her a household name, but the demands of fame are turning the model into skin and bones!"

"Gigi's totally caved to the pressure to be rail thin on catwalks," a so-called "friend" is quoted as saying. "Other models had always been very rude to her because she was more curvaceous and she felt out of place." Consequently, claims the magazine, Hadid "decided a draconian, all-liquid diet was the key to acceptance in the fashion world."

The supposed pal alleges, "She has a vegetable smoothie for breakfast, and a protein shake for lunch but nothing solid — ever. And after 2 p.m., she doesn't eat anything at all, only coffee or a Red Bull, and maybe a glass of champagne at a party."

The story goes on to assert that Hadid is being encouraged by sister Bella and best friend Kendall Jenner, while boyfriend Zayn Malik is "worried." Contends the publication's alleged snitch, "Zayn's turned off — not only by her thin frame, but by all the emotional baggage that comes with trying to stay so skinny."

It's telling, though, that the outlet fails to mention the times Hadid and Malik have Snapchatted cooking together, or how Hadid, her sister, and Jenner are all obsessed with In-N-Out. Also not mentioned is the baking video the model did for British Vogue earlier this month, for which she made Yorkshire Pudding and said the home of Malik's mom is her "favorite restaurant in the world." She also shared her food motto with Harper's Bazaar last fall, saying, "Eat clean to stay fit, have a burger to stay sane."

And while we're told Hadid does take extra caution with what she puts in her body when she's preparing for Fashion Week or a photo shoot, the "all-liquid diet" is a dangerously false allegation. Star, of course, is the same magazine that nearly a year ago fabricated a tale about Malik and Hadid being engaged. The tabloid's sources remain wrong.

Our Verdict

Gossip Cop believes there to be elements of truth, but the story is ultimately misleading.
