George Clooney is not moving wife Amal and their twins “back to L.A.” for security reasons, despite a report. While a number of outlets have picked up the story, Gossip Cop has exclusively confirmed with Clooney’s rep that the claims are untrue.

The false rumor comes from Life & Style, which wrongly asserts Clooney “recently made plans to move back to L.A., for the safety of his family, after the latest spate of terror attacks in England.” A so-called “insider” is quoted as saying, “He doesn’t feel like Amal and the twins are safe living in the English countryside. He’s determined to move his family to L.A., where he feels much more secure.”

The tabloid asserts both Clooney and Amal, a human rights lawyer, have been targeted with “very serious threats” in the past, but “when George learned that he was going to be a father, those [safety] concerns went into overdrive.” The supposed source contends to the gossip magazine, “As soon as Amal found out she was pregnant, he hired former Secret Service agents to assess all his properties and make recommendations for improvement. His mansion in Studio City was deemed the most secure, and it’s within minutes of an LAPD station.”

“He’s waited so long for this family. He’ll do whatever it takes to keep them safe,” adds the publication’s purported tipster. While Gossip Cop has no doubt Clooney wants his growing family to remain safe and unharmed, he is not moving to Los Angeles out of security fears. The truth is that the Oscar winner never actually moved away from the city.

“They’ve never left L.A. They live in London AND L.A.,” a rep for Clooney tells Gossip Cop exclusively. While the couple has mostly been spending the last few months abroad, we’re told they plan to continue dividing their time between the two residences. It may not be an even split, but nothing is changing. And it seems nothing has changed with Life & Style, either.

The tabloid is still peddling misinformation about the Clooneys, even after its 2015 cover story that wrongly claimed George and Amal were on the brink of a “nasty $200 million divorce.” More recently, in May, the magazine seemingly fabricated an article about the Clooneys having “baby drama” before the birth of their twins. In actuality, the pair was in a state of bliss and still are.
