George Clooney did NOT “dump” his wife Amal “on the eve of their one-year anniversary,” despite a 100 percent wrong report. Gossip Cop can correct the story, which comes from one of the tabloids.

The new issue of the National Enquirer quotes a so-called “friend” as saying, “The honeymoon is definitely over, and George has ditched Amal and gone back to hanging out with his drinking buddies while she’s buried in her court duties. It’s nightmare for George, and he wants out.”

What’s more is the Enquirer alleges the marriage was a “sham from the start, based on a ‘wedding contract’ that the superstar regards as not worth the paper it’s printed on.” Now Clooney supposedly wants to “renegotiate” by getting a “$220 million divorce.” The supermarket tabloid tries to support its claims of marital strife by pointing to a series of debunked rumors, such as Clooney’s alleged “flirting” with Scarlett Johansson and his allegedly stalled political ambitions.

“Instead of being like Bill and Hillary Clinton, they’ve become a trashy celebrity couple like Kim and Kanye,” snipes the Enquirer source. “The Amal experiment has backfired badly, and he’s looking for a way out.” Curiously, there’s no mention of when or how Clooney supposedly “dumped” his wife just before their anniversary.

And that’s because no such thing ever happened. As Gossip Cop already reported, the Clooneys happily celebrated their one-year anniversary on Sunday. The actor has even spoken in interviews this week about their private dinner, and they stepped out together for the New York Film Festival on Tuesday. So, let’s all just dump this National Enquirer story, okay?
