George Clooney and Amal Clooney are not fighting over the idea of adopting a refugee child, despite a fictional tabloid report. Gossip Cop can correct the story. There’s no truth to it.

According to OK!, the human rights lawyer has been so touched by the refugees she’s worked with in Iraq that she wants to take in one of the children in need. Amal’s husband, however, isn’t on board with the idea. A supposed insider tells the outlet, “George believes that adopting a child who’s been through so much would require extra time, love and care, and he doesn’t think they can offer that kind of attention to a kid right now.”

The alleged source adds, “They both have very busy careers and already have their hands full with [2-year-old twins] Alexander and Ella,” but Amal is adamant that they can handle a third child “even with everything they have going on.” The suspicious tipster goes on to say that her husband refuses to budge on his position, adding, “George feels it’s not the right time to add to their family. It would just be too stressful.”

Of course, Amal is dedicated to helping refugees, but adopting a refugee child isn’t one of her strategies. In 2017, George and Amal help send thousands of Syrian refugees to schools in Lebanon by raising money through their organization, the Clooney Foundation for Justice. Last year, the Clooneys sponsored a 23-year-old Iraqi refugee so that he could come to the U.S. and study at the University of Chicago. The lawyer and the movie star do plenty to support young refugees, but Amal isn’t pushing to adopt one, nor is she battling her husband over an imaginary scenario. A source close to the situation tells Gossip Cop the tabloid’s article is simply untrue.

It should be noted, OK! has already proven to have zero insight into the couple’s family plans. In December 2017, Gossip Cop called out the tabloid for falsely claiming George and Amal were having another set of twins. That didn’t happen. In December 2018, we busted the magazine for publishing a nearly identical story about George and Amal having twins again. Once again, no additional twins arrived into the Clooney household.

The outlet has now dropped the phony narrative about the Clooneys having more twins. Instead, it’s now spreading a new rumor about them arguing over adopting a third child. This latest storyline is no more realistic.
